How do you deal with having too much intensity?
Strange question yes but sometimes we can over train or get hurt if we dont keep it in check...

I wanted to write this post because I remember that every time I blast I train very hard but also seem to push myself beyond comfort sometimes. Running this risk of over training becomes a struggle. I seriously feel I have to slam the weights 24/7 because .......... "I dont wanna waste the gear".

Of course we know that when we rest and sleep is when we grow and that proper diet is important but I just cant help it! I start thinking I need more frequency and more volume and morning and afternoon training , etc. I get up earlier or stay up later or both! I keep pushing as if Im invincible.

I do catch myself and try to bring myself back to reality but If I try to take a day off I feel antsy and like Im not doing the right thing.

What are some measures you guys take to kinda force yourself to slow down? For example , do you go for a bike ride or a jog? Or do you maybe do some work around the house? What are some things you might do to take your mind off wanting to constantly crush?

I know some of you guys will say all you ever do is train no matter what and that you eat barbells and shit metal filings but what about everyone else?

some yard work would make you feel like youre doing something, or even a walk around town, if you really wanna take a day off and feel accomplished, use that day to see how much sweet puss you can score, but seriously a day off isn't bad, your body will use it to grow, I remember one time I had to take a week off and when I came back I was much stronger, I myself feel pretty lazy whenever I take my day off but you just gotta seize the day and keep your mind off it, just gotta find something nice named easy you enjoy doing

Honestly, when I have to much zeal I will take advantage of it because I too can have an opposite state of being, and when I have no motivation and on those instances I wish I was back in full throttle mode..Take it when you have it, use it when it's there, because it's hard to stay full blown gunz blazin during a 12-16 week blast..

Take the good with the bad, ups and downs..

When I feel "manic" that's when I will maybe incorporate some movements that I longed to capitalize on, focusing on lagging parts, and maybe even 2 leg sessions a week, do legs twice a week, that will slow your pace down a bit and humble you real fast.

Been so long since I had that kind of energy, I can only dream what I would do!! Getting old sucks!!!!

If 1967 is your birthday then you are too young to be tired!!

I am same way I have dumbells at work, under my bed, a whole gym in garage, but mostly used my membership. I started getting tendonitis especially in ten is elbow.

One thing u can do is the opposite take photos for progress measures and compare.

Yeah that was pretty much my angle when I asked the question.... where your intensity outpaces your health.... getting tendinitis is one I always get. You guys know how that sucks. Cause otherwise you feel fine!
I try to avoid tendinitis desperately cause it will take forever to heal. But sometimes I push too hard and bam my elbow is flared up.

I am a mechanic and obsessive compulsive to the point I am constantly using my handson and wrist doing something tendons carpal tunnel have struck me.

First Blood, I am 40 your 43. I have noticed that I hold muscle and can gain it really easy when adding gear. On trt dose I lose it . Example right now 187 thanksgiving on my blast I was at 196. My weight stays 180-210 but I stay muscled don't lose much strength and sometimes ripped at 180 and look better. My point here is I have found that working out for 12 years steady no time off and 20 all together, I stay with same physique I only workout now 45 minutes to an hour 5 days a week. On blast my good intake goes up and when not muscles get force fed. I have found shocking muscles is good but if adding extra time just do a couple heavy sets at that awkward time not enough tof increase cortisol.

One thing I do is workout at high intensity. I do main first two exercises heavy and then I superset halfway point till end of workout is almost like a circuit example incline Dumbell press 4-5 reps then do as many Flys from same position, get off walk straight to tricept push downs do 8 reps walk to incline about bench grab 25 lb plate and do 20 sit ups on incline with plate on chest. I only hit the tri's enough to pump and stimulate cause if this day is Monday I will hit them with biceps again on Friday tri's and bi's. Do same next day with back and bi'so. This helps me melt all fat and gets heart pumping. It's intense and doesn't take long to bust out a workout with a huge pump.

Good info thanks alot. I'm same age as you and seem to be very very close in weight. I managed to get to 184 and looked very ripped. I did have more fat I could have she'd but I felt lightweight and hungry! So I held their.
My workout at the time was involved with lots of dropsets and super sets too. So I see alot of similarities . Diet was 6 or 7 meals/day. Chicken and fish and one beef at the end of the day. Sweet potatoes and oats and lots of veggies.... for hunger issues quest bars with diet coke and sugarfree jello

So now I'm asking another question that's in the same realm as the first....

How do you guys maintain intensity when life start s throwing curve balls. I thought of this because I found that being angry has actually made me drive myself harder! But I also remember having a big argument with my girl and although I felt angry I also felt wiped out and stressed...... And my motivation was gone.
Any tricks you guys use to get yourself back into battle mode?

I will answer again when I am mad about certain things and people crossing boundaries I talk to the weights. I tell myself I am here training especially early in morning u better dream on buddy, in reference to whom ever.

But my old lady can get under my skin to the point I am going to workout and then I am just too aggrevated ruined my mood and don't that day. Always try to make it up though.

When life has gotten the best of me it's hard but I regroup and push on the next day.

Sometimes I have found it helps to lower stressers as much as possible. I sometimes resort to cortisol lowering supplements whether it's a placebo affect I don't know but they seem to help.

I can hardly handle tren anymore. Tren e for sure. My life with kids and wIfe are too much. I am in oil field and times have been rough for past few years, being on tight budget from things has made it tough. Somehow I just always know and tell myself a foot in right direction day after day and I will get to that place I am headed it's just part of the path.

these topics are interesting to me because I like to hear how different people handle things . i know people who are so relaxed it seems nothing gets to them, but honestly they seem a little flat, lack of enthusiasm and passion. Intensity or lack of cuts both ways in life. When things are going right my intensity is fueled by it.But when shit goes wrong that same intensity can make me a madman, lol.
Being a little OCD is more about control over the surrounding enviroment. Like controlling the weights.

It seems a lot of you just say Hey im taking a break from it all. Thats the best I think.
