TRT Blood Work Abnormal

Need advice on test results. I'm 49 y/o and have been on 200 mg cyp weekly for 4 yrs. Testosterone levels range from 400-900, right in the normal range, however my blood work from recent test shows levels elevated to 930 and hemoglobin @ 17.3. I received a call from docs office saying that I need to stop test injections for one month and resume taking 200 mgs every 2 wks with a return visit for more blood work in four months.I'll post all blood work results once i receive them. My question is why does doc want me to stop injections for one month and resume them only twice a month, and what would cause blood work to change? Nothing changed in my diet or workouts. Everything I've read says that TRT should not be stopped and started (or cycled) as doc has ordered. I know the info I've provided about the blood work is limited and will post once received. Liver and kidney functions were all normal with noted dehydration due to fasting before blood work which nurse says is normal. Thanks for any advice.

My hemo goes to 19-20. My Dr gives me an order for therapeutic phlebotomy every 3 weeks or as needed.
Go donate blood do double red blood or get order for more often

Increased red blood is normal with testosterone trt.
U should be donating and Dr should be telling I to donate
Also take my testosterone two times a week 50 mg Monday and 50mg Thursday. I have a thread named blast after bloods I wrote it last night my labs are on it. I am going to blood bank Saturday

My initial advice: get another doctor quick!

I've been in that exact boat before. Just turned 48 yesterday, and I've been on TRT for 17.5 years. 930 is on the high side but still WELL within the range for TRT. There is no reason to stop treatment. Remember that the half life of test cyp is 7-10 days. As you inject one dose, roughly half will still be active in the blood the following week at 7 days. You inject the next dose, and it is added to the numbers. Your body may use it more quickly sometimes and sometimes not, but when it doesn't, the levels will build up more. The doc's reason for taking you off is to let all the levels come down completely (accounting for half life) and start over. This is a BAD idea. One of my docs I went to in the past had me do that. Felt like shit by the 3rd week and even worse the next, and because there was no testosterone left at the end, estrogen started to take over and I got the worst acne of my life. I was lucky that was all I had to deal with since I don't get gyno very easily. I found out later that many other bodily processes and hormones went haywire, and when I finally got back on, it took a long time for it all to re-normalize and feel better. The acne mostly cleared, but now I still tend to get bad breakouts when I get to the low side before having to take another shot when that had never happened before. The endocrine system is so linked together, it really wreaks havoc on your system if you remove one of its components. At the least, the dosage should only be reduced for maybe 1-2 weeks, then go back to normal or adjust the frequency of the shots to every 10 days.

OP, if u not going back for 4 months and he just told u to stop a month. He wants your testosterone to lower and your hemo to go down a little. Your hemocrit may be high too.
My advice keeplease doing shots but go do double red blood donation and keep going donate everytime allowed.
I have to go every 3-5 weeks and take iron because of it.

Start doing 50 mg twice a week and stop the roller coaster as well. My labs were posted yesterday if u wanna see them. I also blast. I am 40.

Big Z and M Mechanic have given solod advice.

I, too have been in exactly your situation with a doc who freaked out abd had me stop TRT for a month because he had NO IDEA what he was doing, what TRT is reall all about and what the effects are.

I also believe most docs are scared shitless of having someone come down on them for prescribing "steroids" and therefore their actions are rooted in self preservation (based almost wntirely on their own lack of knowledge amd understanding) rather than on the needs or best interest of the patient.

I think Big Z is wxactly right, you need to find another doc who knows what the hell he's doing.

Mechanic's suggestion to donate blood or possibly a double red blood cell donation is a good one. That is exactly what I did a month or so ago, was the double red blood cell donation to reduce RBC and hematocrit. Your high hemoglobin number is also an indication of those two things. Donating blood periodically (every other month, maybe every 4 or 6 months) will usually be more than adequate to deal with that unless you have some unusual issue.

All of my reading about trt says that rbc should be monitored. Testosterone can raise rbc and increases in hemoglobin and hemocrit can cause risk of heart attacks and strokes. This is the risk and concerns with testosterone treatments.

Dr's are supposed to advise donating blood to prevent this buildup in certain individuals. Dr's are also able to order therapeutic phlebotomy's in patients that need testosterone replacement and need to keep rbc in check. Dr's experienced know how to read other numbers that go down when iron storage does. There are two tests that check for iron storage and saturation. My Dr has tested these things and had me on iron (fergon 24mg) with vitamin c 250mg twice a day for absorbsion. After this visit he told me I can still take it but once a day.
He has told me that testosterone treatments are fine but he has to be sure I am following his orders so it doesn't cause me harm.
I myself had had an issue I test positive for hep antibodies so I can't just donate. I have no virus only make an antibody from an exposure. They throw my blood away but with Dr order they still are able to give me phlebotomy's as therapeutic. I also have a stimulation of red blood build up that is alot more than normal. I have them way more than normal so I get order as soon as every 3 weeks. I go between 3 and 5 weeks. That is me though.

Your hemo was almost at 18.
The range is around 13.5-16.6. Donating whole blood will bring it down about I point. Double red blood around 2. It's important to know life cycle of red blood is about 90 days and most of them are recycled by body to make new red blood. Lowering your dose are stopping will off set stimulation and bring it down. But it will bring estrogen up and other problems within the body. My advice still is to go donate. Each time u go they will prick finger once u get into a range of around 14-15 u then can decide u don't wanna do it and go back and when it's 16 then do it. Just tell them u feel too weak if it's too low or tell them u on trt and they will spin blood and understand.

I just started a blast so I gotta get it down. I will go every three weeks till I get it to hopefully 13-14. If not on blast I usually can manage once a month.
I will be using test prop, sust probably 600-850 test a week.
Anavar 40 a day to start
Masterone 400-600 a week.
I will bring it down.

It's about time for me to go in and get a phlebotomy as well. My blood doc likes to keep my HCT below 50.

Any update from the original poster?

I hadn't been going often enough it's been tough. One lady is a swat, everytime I go if I am last one she trys to put me off. She asked me when was my last shot.
And on paper it had:
TT last inj 1-27-17.

I know they don't keep my blood don't know what she is trying to pull. I didn't give permission for any test either. Only had did four injections of sust 250 so for with fourth on 27th.
Anyway I have an order for every 3 weeks or as needed. Hadn't been going often enough. Dr has me at as soon as 3 weeks cause it takes that most of time until low enough.
My rbc been getting high for long time even without trt or cycling. Sorry for rambling
