Hi all this is my first post,

I had a look through various posts about filtering but can't find much solid info on glass vacuum filtering and how it'd kept sterile my attempt at a plastic filter cup didn't go well. Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction

I recommend you use a glass fliltration system, you can get easily in aliexpress. You can get a hand pump or an electrict pump, i had both and i really have to say that the electric one is worth the money. Respect sterilization i clean them first with antibacterial soap and hot water, later i rinse it well with IPA and then i cover the top of the neckd with aluminium paper and put them upside down in the oven at 200C for about 30 min. After those 30min i turn off the oven an open a bit the door, so they can get in normal temp by themselves. If you don't do this step can be the case that they get humit inside for the strong change of temp. One time they are at normal temp, you can use them. After the use them clean them again with hot water and antibacterisl soap and then clean them again with super green, ove cleaner or degreaser in order to really clean it well. Otherwise when you bake them again in the oven they will start to get brown because the little rest of the oil that the soap can't clean.

I hope you understand now better the process of sterelization

Good luck!!

i allways use a whatman and a 20ml syringe never had any problems and its more than enough for personal use..
never saw the point of buying all that expensive stuff if its only for personal use..

there is a few guys on here that use a vacume system..so bump it up again..

Glass filtration is by far easier then the others I like to filter right after cooking process. With plastic u can't do it. Also with plastic you have limits to how much vacuum you can set the pump to because plastic will collapse as glass wont. Glass you can clearly many different ways and bake then again prior to use. Using plastics limits what cleaners you can use and level of heat. Unless you use disposable type but that just gets too costly where as you just have to spend $20-30 box on a 50 or 100pc filter papers and that will last. You a very long time. Syringe filters work but can become pricey but they will get the job done just a pain when filtering thick solutions. When in doubt if it hurts ur fingers you can use a calking gun and with a washer you can put your 20g needle in there and its much easier on the fingers. One last thing instead of using grapeseed oil I would recommend using MCT oil it will be thinner and easier for you to filter. Good luck…

You need to use a whatman filter it is the best way. When you are done you can flush it with a little BA to make sure you get all the powder out.
