Best Bottle Top Filters. Autofill, Millipore, Whatman Zap Cap, Nalgene Rapid Flow.

There are a lot of different bottle top filters out there. When I say that I mean different name brands. You have fox autofill,Millipore,whatman zap cap, but the best of them all and this could be disputed is the Nalgene rapid flow.
Reason being, most bottle top filters will draw the oil into the center of the bottle top filter and then down into the media bottle. However by doing this it will wear out the filter faster because it is only using the middle, and you're flow rate will be a lot slower because it is only coming through the middle. Whereas a Nalgene rapid flow uses the whole filter membrane not just the middle. In fact you could filter 1000 ml using a hand pump in about less than 30 minutes. So I would say it is definitely worth the money the extra 4 or $5 at the most to get the Nalgene rapid flow as opposed to any other brand.


#1: buy the bottle top filtration system.
you'll need 3
things:
a hand pump
bottle top filters
a glass media
bottle to receive.


The bottle top filters look like this (attached to a receiver flask)


"Surfactant-Free Cellulose Acetate NALGENE"
(nylon is also okay. nylon or
sf-ca for oil. PES for water)
you want the .22um (45um do not filter all bacterias!!)
be careful when buying filters
and receiver flasks
they come in both 33mm and 45mm. it doesn't matter which
size you get, as long as the filter matches the
flask.

#2: mix your gear
mix your solvents, powders, oil. 1%-2% BA!
heat.
let
them cool to ROOM TEMPERATURE!

i actually heat my gear in a media bottle.
after its mixed all in there i put a cloth down in the spaghetti boiler and boil
the bottle for an hour.

#3: build your bottle top filtration
system
this is pretty simple.
screw the filter onto the
flask
hook the vacuum to the hose
hook the hose to the nipple on the side
of the filter.
Pour your ROOM TEMP OIL into the top.
always keep
the vacuum in the 10 to 13 PSI range on the Gauge. Going in any higher you are taking the chance of blowing out your filter..
