Extra Protein turns to Glucose?

How does protein turn to glucose. I thought only carbs could do that and that too much protein would get stored as fat? I'm trying to get into competition shape for female figure, but nutrition is confusing me. I'm attempting a cyclical keto diet. For the days I have virtually now carbs, I eat as much protein as I can get and a little more fat than usual. Is that extra protein turning into glucose?

how much do you weigh? and how much protien are you eating.

My wife only take in 1g per pound of Bodyweight and she eats 2 carb meals with naurtal peanut butter on non=carb meals

Also a problem I had run into before hooking up with skip was to much protien dehydrating me because my kidneys were over worked . just something to think about

The conversion of protein to glucose is called gluconeogenesis. If you do a search on the internet for this, I would imagine you would get a ton of info on it.

Also, I know this is unimportant but I saw your handle and it made me remember a very good friend that I have not had any contact with since probably the early 90s and wouldn't know where to find her. Her name was Sam Rose, too.

Just thought I would express this for some weird reason. She was very, very attractive and cool as hell. I saw that you live in Louisiana so I figured right off that you probably wouldn't be her. Just thought I would reminisce for a minute. lol

to avoid gluconeogenesis in keto diet you must increase fat intake and not to go too high with protein.i've heard some one go with 70% of caloric intake from fat rest protein.it sounds like the righ way for keto diets.

Thanks for the replies...I am currently 114lbs. but i want to get to around 107. Do I shoot for one g. of protein per lb of my goal weight? And, 70% should be fat...that sounds like a hell of a lot of fat, but if that's truly how I need to do it, then I will.

Skip, glad i could help you reminisce.
