Burnout Set for Gains

Will high rep burnout sets increase muscle size?

A recent study showed that one high rep burnout set after a strength workout significantly increased muscle size over the strength workout alone! Powerlifting training is great for building strength, but as we know from previous lessons, powerlifting only targets one primary muscle fiber (Type II).

To optimize both type I and type II muscle fibers, it would be best to incorporate both heavy training and light training to failure!
