Agreed! Certain few understand necessity vs desire in the gym... Anything over 135 necessitates a rack... Its the sub 135 guys I complain most about...
I love em.. They hurt so freaking bad tho.. But my back thickness from those are hard to match on any other exercise... I have herniated disc so I dont do em that much anymore... Risk/reward not worth it... Great exercise tho...I actually read a dorian article (if he even wrote it) stating thats...
My deal with it is when I wanna squat its a guy in there doing curls.. You can curl almost anywhere in the gym... But you can squat especially heavy only in a "power rack"... I jus think to my self "why cant you just put the bar on the floor and pick it up and curl" or sit in on the preacher...
I agree with the muscle being stretched... However if you look @ it... Stretching by definition is stretching.. rather you do it within a workout...after a workout... or before.. Stretching by definition is "increase of ROM in a given joint" so rather you are doing full range or partial I think...
I like full ROM for strength.. To me nothing beats "partial" or (middle 3rd of the rep what i call it) for hypertrophy... i've trained both ways for years and it seems that keeping your muscle in a constant state of force and contraction seems to cause a deeper trauma in the muscle belly...
