One of the largest shows on the IFBB Pro League circuit will take place on the weekend of Aug. 18-19, 2023. The 2023 Texas Pro will occur in Arlington, TX, and eight of the 11 pro divisions will be featured. Over 170 athletes will compete across those eight divisions representing 14 nations.

The winners of each division’s respective contest will earn qualification for the 2023 Olympia Weekend in Orlando, FL, on Nov. 2-5, 2023, if they haven’t already qualified. If a winner already has an 2023 Olympia qualification, then no qualification will be issued for that division.

Men’s Open Athletes to Watch
Below are the Men’s Open competitors likely to contend for the top of the podium.

Andrew Jacked
The 2022 champion of the Men’s Open contest at this show was Andrew Jacked. He followed up that win with gold at the 2022 Arnold Classic UK as well. He made his Olympia debut in 2022 with an eighth-place finish.

Jacked needs a pro show win to qualify for the 2023 Mr. Olympia in Orlando. His last show was the 2023 Arnold Classic, where he ranked third. He’s considered a favorite to repeat, and if he does, he will have 11 weeks to prepare for the 2023 Olympia.

Hunter Labrada
Hunter Labrada is the 2023 Tampa Pro winner, which secured his 2023 Olympia qualification. Even if he doesn’t win this show, Labrada will still be eligible to compete in Orlando.

Labrada’s goal for this show is to keep another competitor from qualifying. If Labrada succeeds, no qualification will be awarded, and competitors like Jacked will have to compete at another show before October. This is Labrada’s first time competing in this show, which is in his home state.

Carlos Thomas Jr.
Carlos Thomas Jr. will make his anticipated IFBB Pro League debut at this contest. He emerged on the scene at the 2021 NPC Battle Royale in Alexandria, VA, which he won.

Thomas Jr. won his pro card at the 2021 NPC Nationals. After taking 2022 off to make improvements, a lot of fans expect to him perform well against established pros like Labrada and Jacked.

Figure Athletes to Watch
Below are three of the Figure competitors who are expected to score first callouts.

Jessica Reyes Padilla
Jessica Reyes Padilla was the 2022 Figure Olympia runner-up. Cydney Gillon won her sixth championship in that contest. Padilla may not have won, but she did earn an automatic qualification to the 2023 Olympia with that silver-medal placing.

Reyes Padilla is in a similar position as Labrada. She can keep a rival from qualifying for the Olympia by winning. She could certainly place first in this show as its defending champion.

Lena Ramsteiner
Lena Ramsteiner is trying to reach the Olympia stage for the second straight year. She was out of the top 15 in 2022. Ramsteiner already competed once in 2023, placing third in the 2023 Tampa Pro. Winning this contest and defeating a competitor Reyes Padilla’s stature could boast much confidence for the remainder of Olympia prep.

Jay Garay
Jay Garay is the 2023 NPC USA Figure Class E winner, which earned her pro status. She will make her professional debut at this contest. She is entering the deep end by challenging over 25 pros, including an Olympia runner-up.

Garay will be in for a much different experience than competing at an amateur show. However, that experience can serve her well later in the season if she chooses to compete again if she doesn’t hail Mary the gold in Texas.
