How often you guys work abs. I'm not a big ab worker - feel diet brings
them out. What is your experience with this? Do you think the added
work brings them out more?
 
I've tried heavy resistance once a week, high rep body weight 3 times a week, and dieted down without workin them at all. I'm not currently workin em, but think they get enough work supporting me during certain heavy movements.
 
I always want to rock the six pack but without a good diet it just won't happen no matter how much you train them... I think they get enough work with the deads and squats.
 
Resistance training abs only makes them thicker and more blocky so if your goal is to slim down, that isn't the way to go. I agree with Mikeswift that deads and squats train them enough. I haven't done a lot of direct ab work at all, but thanks to diet and GH, I'm almost to a six-pack. I only hope I can keep it now that I'm out of GH.
 
not sure i agree with local or even understand that post, but 3 times a week for me.easiest to cut up but easiest for me to lose to so i have to stay on top of them mon,wed,fri.

i just finished a bulker so mines bigger then i want right now but will be training twice a week and cut back cals and fat 100 each right & left side 100 legg lifts 100 knees up crunches. homie dont do cardio

Thats just what I tell the ladies when they are checking out a guy with a six pack , I tell them why get a six pack when you can get a keg. I dont have a six pack or the will power to try.
 
i do them with my dc training. so like twice every 8 days or something like that.

my problem is keeping the lower back muscles trained and up to par.
 
I have a huge gut right now. I dont typically work abs. I know that iso training doesnt work. But im wondering if i can atleast firm up the muscles a little bit with a high rep daily routine??
 
Since I've been out of the gym for about almost 3 weeks now and unable to do cardio, even eating healthy I've lost my 6 pack. I'm down to about a 3 pack LOL It sucks!

Anyways, in regards the question I typically would train them EOD or every three days for about 5-10 minutes with little break between sets (10-20 seconds) I would vary exersices (bicycles, leg lifts, oblique crunched, etc.), but as it was said before those basic strength movements like squats and deads will work them just as well. Just make sure you're lower back is up to par like dreww stated (deads, superman extentions).
 
I do abs usually once a week. I just do high reps with no weight. I do not use weight because like others said I really do not want them any bigger or to make my waist line bigger. I do feel doing them once a week with high reps keeps my stomach area nice a flat, but abs are mainly in the diet.
