Back/Shoulder Workouts + headaches ?

Has anyone experienced excruciating head and neck pains in the few days post back and delt workouts ? It has been happening to my brother. His workouts are not like mine which consist of 10-12x deadlifts and weighted pull ups... He uses more dumbell and also been doing behind the neck lat pull downs.It's been so painful , had to have a sports massage and that relieves it...

Any suggestions be greatly appreciated.

I will never recomend behind the head lat pulls... not that they dont work .. but i believe they are only good for those who have the flexibility... i personaly dont and will most certainly pull a muscle in my neck when doing them.... this could cause the head aches
 
Figured that.... I have never done those either. And it indeed a muscle strain because you can feel how tight the muscles are in the upper back after the workout.
 
I always get headaches when doing Delt, shoulder, and trap splits. I think it is from shrugs though. My wife says my traps are squeezing my head lol.
 
Not sure, I don't do behind the neck lat pulls so I don't know about that. Perhaps he could change his routine and see how he feels, that may help him nail down the problem. Hope he feels better!
