Help me with this. Why is it that people say dont do them here? It is the best place to do them if you ask me. You can set the rack height to your comfort level, you have plenty of room, and correct me if im wrong, but I have never seen just a piece of equipment made just for barbell curls.

My deal with it is when I wanna squat its a guy in there doing curls.. You can curl almost anywhere in the gym... But you can squat especially heavy only in a "power rack"... I jus think to my self "why cant you just put the bar on the floor and pick it up and curl" or sit in on the preacher rack and just face it...or utilise the barbell platform (if you're gym has it) or even use one of the many bench presses.. Its just ive never been in a gym that had more than three power racks.. and on leg day when ya wanna do squats and a guy is curling ya gotta weight and end up losing alot of built up intensity....

I agree with both of you as I think it depends on the individual. Personally I don't ever go lighter than 135 on barbell curls and have gone as heavy as 185. There isn't a place that is better protected from the majority of the gym idiots than a rack. That being said I use a lot of weight and I can't take the chance of the Jazzerciser knocking into me in the middle of a set. If you are doing less than 100lbs, yes do them elsewhere for the most part. I would gladly relinquish the rack to a serious trainer if he or she was in need of it, but the 150lb guy doing 1/4 squats can wait.

Agreed! Certain few understand necessity vs desire in the gym... Anything over 135 necessitates a rack... Its the sub 135 guys I complain most about...
