Recently it came to my attention i do not take any vitamins with the exception of the normal supplements like protein, etc. I work as a fire medic so i think of stuff like this lol... but anyway i was wondering what kind of difference taking some sort of one a day vitamin or something like that would make in my workout. And how much difference would it make in results? I found this page and it amazed me as to how much results i may be missing out on. Im sure you more experienced guys already knew this stuff but to a guy like me who never had anyone to teach him and is pretty much self taught, this is a big help and probably one of the first things you need to address i would think. Check it out and see what ya think.

nice post bro yeah gettin the proper amount of vitamines and such make a big difference in the way you feel your workout and your progress.

there are many very well documented, comprehensive studies that show that vitamin intake through supplements is completely ineffective in attaining "good health." It really depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Unfortunately, there isn’t much evidence to prove contrary to this and that’s why the FDA doesn’t back vitamin supplements. The "good effects" of vitamins has been seen most notably from ingenstion of the complere vitamin source itself, i.e. eat oranges (or broclie has more) to get your Vit C.

A good book(if not the best) that discusses this is called "The China Study."(2005) Written by one of the most famous and recognized people in nutrition.

Now that im older, I can really feel the difference when I dont take my vitamins. I remember reading somewhere (probley a vitamin add) that when you age, you begin to loose some of the ability to get nutrients from food.

Since we workout so much, I really think we deplete our bodies of nutrients more than the average person.

If you are getting plenty of vitamins from the food you eat, then taking extra won't do much because the body won't use it. This is okay if they are water soluble, but fat soluble vitamins like A and E can build up to toxic levels if you take too much because they get stored in the body. I think that for most people, they don't get much of one vitamin or another from food sources so getting it from another source such as a multivitamin helps. I, for one, have to take calcium pills because I can't have milk--I'm allergic to it, not just lactose intolerant, so I have to get calcium in another way. My body will still absorb calcium from the pills because it needs it. How much it absorbs at one time is another question.

i am young, but ive read and noticed that not taking your vitamins won't make you "weaker" or gain less in a bodybuilding sense.

I mainly take vit c and only do that cause I get sick alot easier if I dont, especially when dieted down and depleted. Being sick can mean not eating right, not training and feeling like shit so I try to avoid that at all costs.
