hey guys this weekend had a big fish fry on sat. up at my buddies house. Well we were drinkin a little bit and takin his fence out. Well we ran out of daylight and to make a long story short i tripped over a post in the taller grass and the point went into my quad. Not too deep just a circular hole blead a bit but stopped didnt think anything of it. That was sat. today and yesterday starting to swell a little and get red around it, ive had this happen to cuts before but its about a 3/8 inch circular wound and its red around abouta full inch on each side. There is some heat but not too bad. Oh and the funny thing it doesnt even hurt hardly at all. i can punch it and it doesnt hurt but just a tad. You guys think i should go ahead and go to the little med clinic down the street and get some anti's or give it a few more days and see if my body fights it off? thanks for responses.

punctures arn't good. You should get it checked out - if it was me though, I probably would give it a day or two. (do as I say, not as I do - LOL)

yeah some of the redness has gone away i think im gonna let it run another day if its not better tomorrow ill go to the clinic. thats just so wierd theres no pain hardly though cant get over that.

I keep a bottle of Cephalexin around just in case. It was prescribed for me when I cut my chin open at work. It's something they give people to fight infections like yours and mine. It is by prescription for humans but it's OTC for fish. Check out the vet supply stores online.

how is it this morning bro? I would head over there anyway and let them check it out. Worse case scenario they give you some antibiotics just in case and then you have them in case you have another mishap... *sigh* Clumsy redneck.

Something like that can turn into gangrene very easily, or if you haven't had a tetanus booster in a while, that could set in (especially with puncture wounds). If you are showing symptoms of an infection, go to the doctor. You don't know what it is.

yeah im gonna head over there in a few minutes. Its startin to finger to the right of the wound so i guess ill hall my redneck ass over there and tell them to give me some goodies. Maybe they will lance it or somethin and i can watch haha.

welp went to doc said it was like a phase two infection just switched over from the redness and a tiny bit of streaking. Put me on some anti's i gotta go pic up in the next hour or so and thats it so hopefully this will take care of it. I got a nother tetnis shot too the nurse actually knew how to give a fuckin shot instead of jabbing she went in slow aspirated and injected slow wanted to tell her good job and a pat on the ass or somethin haha.

Should have patted that ass for future visits in reference, but ya know.

Wounds such as that happen to me all the time with my job and to be honest, as my opinion goes, personally things like this depend on what you are planning as far as training. If it coincides with competition and such then yeah, I would get anything checked out no matter how minute it may seem. Me, training for personal health, it's a different story and not much thought is given to the small things that occur which can actually make life-long scars that affect your look.

As far as gangrene and horrible infections like that go...well with my experience at least, it takes an awful lot to induce problems like that, like getting stabbed with a rusty nail and letting it go for weeks without the simple application of alcohol or peroxcide, whatever may halt the infection. It really doesn't take much to prevent major damage in a lot of cases.

yeah well i started gettin some streaks thats why i got it checked. I get cuts and punctures all the time im a welder fabricator and work with nothing but sharp steel lol so it happens alot. Thats the only reason i went is it was getting progressively worse so figured it was time to get it looked at.
