Here lately my mind hasn't been into lifting. Has anyone else ever went through a phase like this? I'm still going in the gym, but I'm not getting into it like I used to. I'm basically forcing myself to go

Absolutely!! What I would recommend... Let yourself crash and stop going for the gym. Give yourself at least 3 weeks. No gym, no dieting, nothing.

Didn't you just start a big cycle BignWV ? I've never lost interest or motivation during a cycle ! Only when I'm off or cruising low . Anyways I just was curious

when your in it for the long haul, like anything else, you have ups and downs. I have periods where I have great
workouts, intense and make progress and then go thru lower intensity times where just getting to the gym is tough.
Getting thru the low times is what gets you to the gains times. I use different tools to just get to the gym. One good
one is concentrating on how good I will feel when I am done my workout. Keep draging your self in as much as you
can. I dont take long periods off because I feel it would be too hard to get back. Some of the best workouts I have
has are when I barely drag myself in and half way thru I start feeling it. You cant keep up that intensity 12 months
out of the year. Mabey do something different. Sometimes I do different exercises but light so it is easy workout.
My advice is just keep going till it passes, and it will.

I found myself in the same spot bro. What I found out is that just going to the gym is meaningless unless you have a goal to reach. For instance a show or meet of some kind. Even getting ready for summer but as long as you have something worth getting up for then will you keep motivated.

Yeah Big I remember you were prepping for a cycle??? But dude you have that stuff with lady going on too... How has that gone by the way? pop the question yet? if that's still on your mind or in the process of coming true it may have a grip on your focus right now too. maybe feeling the nerves and stress on that? I blew up my shoulder tore a bicep tend and my subscapularous all in one whack... kept me out of the gym for almost a year... that was long enough to fight off any thought of loosing interest lol. I agree with the dude.. give yourself time off I know by the end of that ordeal I was hungrier then every to start tearing it up again...

I have everything for the cycle and had plans of starting this past Monday (after a week off from the gym), but I didn't want to start until I was fully committed to the cause.

I went today with a buddy to his gym and it actually sparked something just being in a different atmosphere. For the first time in a month I wasn't counting sets or looking at the clock. I actually got my head into it and had the first good workout I've had in at least a month

Haven't asked yet, but I have a vacation in a couple weeks at work so that may be the time . I think work has had me so stressed that all I want to do is sit at home and not go anywhere, but I will figure out something. The time off may be good and then again going to a different gym could be a plan also

New gyms new faces can help alot... it's like hanging out with the same people all of the time... You get tired of seeing that one guy that does that one thing that annoys you... or that guy that thinks he knows you so he interrupts all your workouts... or that guy that always walks by you trying to size you up and see if hes bigger then you lol (he never is lol) I like going to new gyms... where I can get annoyed by new people.

Time off is good for many people. Lot of pros do it. Just for me, the longer I take off the harder it is to come back. I start
with "one more week off" lol. All that other stuff is a factor also. You may need the time off. Gotta go with what works for
you.

Some great suggestions, I've been there quite a few times over the last 32 yrs. Time off to clear the head is best, how long is subjective. I usually get motivated by watching Pumping Iron or a recorded BB show. Plus this burning desire to be the best 53 yr old BB in my neck of the woods

Damn right I have but never during a cycle. I stay pumped as hell to work out during a cycle

If I can put a solid week together at the gym I'm going to start this cycle. I just hate to start while I'm half assing it. Yesterday was nice at the other gym for a change. I'm excited to go tomorrow because I'm supposed to start with one of my old training partners. Having someone with me might help too since I've been going solo for a while. It is easy to talk myself out of going

I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I match my beanie to my shirts. I have a bunch of Under Armour beanies that I'll wear. I have black/grey, black/white, navy/white, royal/white, but nothing for red so I resort to wearing black and white shorts with the black/white beanie. I can't help it, I've gotta match in some way lol

quoting you from the "Gym Gear" thread...

Maybe if you bought that matching red beanie you'd find your motivation??

Monday will be a new start...I get like this all the time...taking time off...but I can't ever see myself gettin small or losing muscles. I feel like if I pose that ill have nothing...

Having a partner always helped me get in the mood a lot quicker. Especially someone doing somewhere around the same weight as I do. Crash and I work great together because we are so close in weight and strength we push each other more everyday.

omg my friend, i was in this same exact predictment not long ago. As for myself i jus needed a short break of 5-7 days and begin to balance my life out better and then things felt better again. Not thats my own expereience so i hope that helps or at least gives ya some ideas. Also remember to keep things changing and not always do the same things. Change ur program mix up reps use diff. weight diff excerises high intensity vs high volumevs low volume. Play around with things. Good luck

Me and freaksized00 are back at it and my head was fully into it this week. I think it was more or less just needing someone to basically make me go. He's probably the best training partner I've ever had because we lift very similar weights, plus he's trained with me enough to know where I slack off and what I'm fully capable of and won't let me puss out on the last few reps.

I'm actually excited to have someone pushing me again and I'm looking forward to training this week which is a change
