Ive been doing lunges for a while and have put some serious size on my hams with them. I do one leg balances with weights and everytime I do them that night I hurt. They are brutal. I have noticed some change in my teardrops and quads but my glutes and hams are better than they have ever been.
Lunges by far. IMO they are probably close with squats for overall leg development. Having said that I hate them more than any other exercise because frankly I'm too much of a pussy. I maybe do them once a year. Once my knee and leg are better I'm going to force myself to do them once a month.
