Hey guys/gals,

I hope this is not a stupid question or anything, and I'm sure its been asked infinite times, but I am back in the gym big time after a LOONG hiatus. I just turned 30 and last time I was seriously working out was at 20. (I can't believe its been that long).

Anyway...the concern is when/if I should start thinking about taking something like dbol to put on a bit of mass. I need to shed about 25lbs at the moment, so I was thinking that maybe in 2-3 months I can start a relatively tame cycle on something (not even sure if that is the right way to word it). But any suggestions or thoughts on what I should consider or read would be greatly appreciated. I am very worried and concerned about potential side effects, especially aggression (as I already have a problem with temper) and skin/acne issues.

Thanks all for any help!

Hello and welcome to the board. Congratulations on making the decision to better your health and get back into the gym. To answer your question…you shouldn’t be considering the use of AAS until you’ve been back in the gym for at least a solid year. Once you got that far and assuming by that point your diet and routine are in check, I would then consider the use AAS. Stick around and become a member of the community and we’ll be glad to help in any way we can.

BTW, DBOL is far from “tame” compound.

Welcome to tha board bro, no questions are stupid around here, better to not know and ask then to not know and do it anyways. I wouldnt consider the use of AAS until your dedicated to the gym, its not just the gym, the gym is only about 20% of it, the other is diet, sleep, and supplements. Ide say take 8-12 months of CONSISTENT training and and a good diet before you start a cycle. Also, do some research on beginner cycles, and by the time your ready for your cycle, you will have enough knowledge to get together and good cycle, good luck bro.

I agree with sandiego. The most important thing about lifting is;
#1 Proper Diet depending on your goals. read, read and read.
#2 training, meaning getting your routine down, proper form. read, read, read.
#3 rest, meaning do not over train, very easy to do.
#4 AAS, when it is time and you are not making progress for several months. Like what was said, wait a good year.
Everything you need to know is right here on this board.
I also was 20yrs old when I started lifting, I didn't start AAS until my mid 40s and now i'm 50 "yikes," I'm old.
Go to Anablic Discussion and read the sticky on Big A artical on "Growth Principles For Beginners." A very good artical.

Welcome to the board! I would repeat the above statements myself but that would be pointless.

One thing you need to remember whe reading posts on this board is that it can get a little exciting to see/hear some of the results of members here. This place and the people can be inspiring as well as a great place to make some friends. The information is endless and the board has plenty of topics to "search" on. Use the search button frequently. If you see an old topic and you think you need more answers or want to debate on the issue at hand, bump it to the top. It's a good way to find the best answers, see many different opinions (based off of different body types, routine styles, diet strategies, and of course experiences). Regardless, it never hurts to bump a topic that you're interested in.

The one thing you need to remember however is don't get ahead of yourself. Make sure as you work out, and realize the results/goal you want to attain you start to understand your body, it's reactions to the different aspects of your training, etc. Do NOT jump the gun on AAS. It truely is a life altering experience and a way of life. I took some time off and I am about to venture back to the gym in a serious way, but we all gotta start somewhere (again).. LOL. I was on this board 7 years ago, and here I am again..... the point is: Your muscles have wonderful memory, max them out like you did when you were younger, do your research on the different aspects of your lifestyle gameplan, and then put them into action. When it comes time to use AAS, make sure you feel completely comfortable and knowledgable (almost like a self taught expert) with the compounds you are about to use, how to administer, and of course the pro's/con's of overal usage... hell, even scare yourself into second thoughts regarding the overall use of. Then, should you proceed, get yourself prepared, get a reliable source, buy all your necessitities including any vitamins, and anti-estrogens, plus of course your post cycle items... and when your fully inventoried, start taking pictures, log your progress, measure your body parts and document how your stats have changed... (it's one thing to psychologically feel better, it's another thing to start hearing compliments, and more importantly it's awesome to see written changes as proof)... by that point all the other outstanding benefits will follow.

Anyway, enjoy the reshaping process and look forward to hearing any progress you're making. And one other thing... dbol by itself IS a waste of money, especially if have any regard to skin quality, bloat, and keepable gains.. test is the base for any good cycle, not to mention as we get older we could use a little extra test boost to compensate for what our body isn't producing naturally...

Thanks for ALL the input guys. I really appreciate the welcome and the thorough info. I really thought about it, and I will wait a good year before I think about taking something serious. A question I have though, is dbol “test” or is taking testosterone (?) something different?? Please forgive my ignorance, I am in the learning stages in this part of training!

I will really concentrate on proper training…as in correct style, full and complete repetitions, full range of motion (man, when you look around in the gym at any given time, its incredible how far off people are in doing half reps or even ¼ reps!!!), slow and deliberate reps, proper rest and nutrition. When I’ve mastered all of that, then I guess I can take the next step with the juice so to speak.<O:p</O:p

One of the biggest and scariest aspects I have right now is, what about supplements? Man, did the face of the supplement world change in the last 10 years!!!! What would you guys recommend that has worked for you or ISN’T a waste of money and isn’t marketing hype!?<O:p</O:p

Thanks all!! :D

Not sure if your asking if taking dbol is taking test, but if u are, then that is incorrect. Dbol is an oral that you take, and test is an injectable. In every cycle you should have test. To your next question, supplements you can take would be protien powder, glutamine, multivitamin, and maybe creatine if you want to, and amino acids are also good. Eating is going to be the best supp.out there by far, remember that.

good rule of thumb (in my opinion) is to try and eat clean -good natural
food - while trying to keep protien high and fats low. Supplement's same as
above (bigworm's sugestion). Just my opinion but stay away from the soy
protien. While it is good for post menopausal women I dont think large amounts
are good for building muscle. Keep it simple and dont judge everyone else - 1/4
reps and 1/2 reps have their place. I have found people with not much experience
are more worried about little things like the position of their little finger when doing
curls because they read that effects the bicep peak. In the begining - JUST DO
IT - keep consistant and always try to do a little more or heavier each workout.
everything else will fall into place. keep reading up on nutrition. See how much
you can improve naturaly - get a good natural solid base - then worry about the
next step. That is if you are in it for the long haul.

Dbol is taken orally??? Wow, I never knew that, I thought you inject the stuff. I guess you did answer my question, test and Dbol are 2 completely separate things. Is test ONLY injectable or can that be an taken orally as well? That’s a good list for supplements by the way, bigworm6, what do you think about all the other stuff on the market these days like the NO products (that supposedly give you this big huge “pump” feeling)? mcgaret, your right about not judging others on ¼ reps and ½ reps there is definitely a time and place for it…I was more or less speaking in generalities at the gym, like the guy today who swung his dumbbells up almost halfway doing curls…he is only cheating himself! I’ve been learning through practice for the past 4+ weeks that consistency is the only way to go (I have a personal habit of not following through in life), but training is really helping me focus and its trickling positively into other aspects in life as well. You guys are encouraging me to go down the natural road, and I definitely will do that…its just seems so easy (so to speak) when certain items are available to you to get that leap and jump start ahead! On that note, and as a separate question, does any of this stuff, be it dbol or test give you real “strength” or power, or is it just water-retaining mass? (as I’ve heard some call it) :o

Listen to these guys bro...You shouldn't even start considering steroids for a good long time. Stick around for a year or two and learn as much as you can while still working out. Once you feel you're at a point where you can't make any more gains then you might consider taking a cycle, but rather than doing that I would first make adjustments to my diet, training, and rest. You'd be surprised of what you can accomplish with dedication, and hard work.

Hey man, thanks for the info, everyone seems real level headed and very realistic on this board (i.e. professional and courteous!) and that is awesome. I hope to be a long standing member.

...dedication and hard work, exactly my sentiments!...that's what I plan to bring into my training once and for all...nothing but my A-Game every day. I am definitely planning on training natural for a while.

Like i said in the previous post, ide stick with the products i listed, the others are usually just hype. One product i have had that works is N.O explode by bsn, gives you a good pump in the gym. Next question, there is oral test, but you usually find it being perscribed to HRT patients, so you wont really find it on the market, and even if you did, injectable is MUCH better and safer.

thanks man, advice noted! :D

hey sandiego, thanks for the link but it does not appear to be working for me...

The link works fine I just tried it. click "download" after you click the link. It may take a moment to start if your computer or connection is slow.

I know what you mean about idiots in the gym. They are all over. If you are really
in it for the long haul then you have time. As long as your making gains - even small
ones, you should be happy. My advice is - always try to be consistant with work outs,
if you miss one or a few in a row, dont beat yourself up, just get back in there. The months turn into years and using how you feel when you dont go should be used for
incentive to go. (hope that makes sense) When I was starting back up years ago
what I used for incentive to get to the gym was to think of how great I felt when
I was done and walking out of the gym. Concentrating on that feeling got me to the
gym on those tough days. What I'm trying to say is to use whatever you can to
create that desire to actually get your ass to the gym. Sometimes the days I felt
the least like working out were the days I would have the best workouts once I started. Draging yourself in there on the days you dont feel like it is what lays the
groundwork for those great workout days when your breaking personal records.
Sorry for the rant but it has worked for me for over 30 years. Train hard.

hey mcgaret, thanks very much for that post...words to live by indeed. I understood completely when you say take the feeling of NOT going to the gym, or not being active and using that as incentive...that is what got me through the first tough 2 weeks back in the gym feeling like a complete soft turd...even after the past 6 weeks, the results have been amazing. Once I am done, especially like you say the days you REALLY don't feel like being there, walking out the doors to the car you feel like you seriously accomplished something tangible, like you finish yet another piece of a mission! Thanks again bro!
