I'm nearing the end of my chest/tri workout today when some dude walks up to me. He introduces himself as a trainer and goes to hand me his card. I didn't reach out for it because as he is handing it to me, he says "Hi, I just wanted to come over and introduce myself. I'm a trainer and you look like you know what you're doing. Your upper body looks sick, but your lower body could use some work. I thought I could show you some exercises."

MF-er, are you kidding me? Look, I KNOW my lower body needs work. I've been training it twice a week for the last two years. So I'm not insulted that he pointed it out because it's a known fact. HOWEVER, bitch you don't know me you little friggin' twig (he looked about 5'10"-6', 170lbs-ish?) You don't know my diet and you don't know that I am currently doing 50 min cardio 7 days/week. You think showing me some of your gay ass exercises is going to make a huge difference?? I squat, I leg press, I deadlift, I lunge... I do it all. What the F are you possibly going to show me that's going to make such a big difference, tough guy?

So I know I must have given him the death stare because I can't pull a poker face to save my life and he had me fuming. So I told him my boyfriend's a trainer and that I don't need the help, plus I'm training for a competition so I know what I'm doing. He seemed a little apprehensive after that and wasn't sure to give me the card or not, so I took it, told him my name but declined his offer because I did legs yesterday (and even if I didn't, I didn't like how he approached me so I wouldn't have wanted his advice anyway!)

Turns out, he works in Brooklyn but came to NJ to visit his mom so he trained at my NYSC today. Well, shit... if you think my lower body looks bad now, you should have seen me 3 months and 15+lbs ago. What a douchebag! I was so insulted... I can take and I respect and appreciate constructive criticism 100%! But for those to be the first words out of his mouth without trying to learn about my background first, I thought was in really poor taste. Who is he to assume?

PS: When I got in the lockerroom, I ripped the card up and threw it in the trash! :satan:

Wow! Thats balls. What a dick. I havent seen your physique and that doesnt matter. I'd be cautious making that comment to my best friend never mind someone I dont even know. Thats not constructive critism, just plain f-in rude. You should have offer him one of you boy's cards and said, "he could help you bulk up so you look like more of a man".

I hate when people do that--- they assume you have no clue and they are going to save you and show you the light....
You are much more nicer that I would have been....
If it was a pick up line- it didn't work :-)

good for you for not going off on him lol. What a douchebag. Ive never had anything like that happen to me, if someone gives me a training card or tries to I have them list their qualifications and 90% of the time im more qualified so i just tell them that I am more qualified to train then they are. They usually have a puzzled dumbfounded look on their faces, if they hand me a card i take it put my headhones back in and tell them to have a nice day, then as they are walking off i always crumple the card and leave it in the middle of the floor where they will most likely find it.

HAHA. Touché! That would have been the best response ever... I'm not that quick though. :( Yeah, he needed it... assclown!

He wasn't trying to be flirty or anything, but who knows. I definitely scared him because he had that "oh shit, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut" look on his face and almost put the card back in his pocket, then he slowly tried to offer it again, so I took it to shut him up so I could get on with my workout.

GS - For real, man! I should have left it there... waste of paper! I wasn't about to get into qualifications, but if he thought his exercises were going to help me when I'm already doing everything possible, then he's mistaken. If I knew anyone at the NYSC in Brooklyn, I would recommend they stay away from him. I'm not giving a trainer any of my damn money... he even made a point to tell me a few times that I look like I know what I'm doing. Good! Then let me get back to what I was doing!! I hate when my workout gets interrupted for bs!

Sorry but ...SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT GOING OFF ON HIM!

Maybe its the tren talking, but I think its hot as fuck that you got an attitude and pissed off as opposed to being all self conscious and letting that fuckface take a hit on your self esteem. That's incredibly sexy..... not hitting on your girl Jon, but that is fucking hot!

That's part of the thing that won my heart with my wife... she could be a bitch when she needed to be. (Hell, she still does.) I agree with you, bro... it's sexy when an attractive woman can buck up and say fuck off, when the time is due.

Sorry to disappoint LH! I'll move "making stupid ass trainers cry" to the top of my priority list!! Asshole caught me off-guard and I was off my game. I KNOW he walked away from that conversation second guessing his decision to approach me though, so I feel good about that...

It's all good, Steph! But now you have that little block of C4 stuck in the back of your brain, so the next time some little douche comes up to you, you can set your mission parameters quick, fast, and in a hurry, and make the little man cry. hehehe

Not to change the topic but...Why would a trainer from far away introduce themself?...I do PT in a small private/corporate office facility, workout in a few other clubs here & there & would NEVER introduce Myself to someone not in the club I work in....thats a DOUCHE MOVE for several reasons

Now I'm gonna be on my guard, looking for a fight at the gym tonight just so I can have the pleasure of making some wannabe badass go from feeling like "the man" to feeling like he has raisins between his legs! :p

Well, that's what I'm saying. ALL the trainers at that gym know me. I'm there 7 days/week and I don't train lightly. THEY know this. He was just some out of towner who caught me on a day when I was training upper body. Maybe he should have showed up on Saturday when I was doing hams and glutes!

The point (and the reason I was insulted) was 1. because of HOW he approached me and made an assumption about how he could provide his services, without knowing (or even asking, for that matter!) my physical background, nutrition and cardio program and 2. because that was just a rude ass thing to say to someone... a compliment wrapped in an insult? No, thank you fxcknut!

And you're right... if he was looking for a client, not only was that a terrible way to do so, but why would I travel all the way to Brooklyn... across 2 bridges, lots of traffic, $19 in tolls, amongst 20 other reasons? Unless he was just trying to "prove" his credibility by showing me his card? Either way, he is an epic fail.

Yeah sounds as if he had some other motive...not very professional

So do you think he was just looking for conversation and hitting on you too possibly. I mean what a tool if he was but you never know. I don't think I would ever walk up and criticize someone's body the first time I met them anyway.
