[font="]While Novaldex may have saved the lives of many breast cancer patients, it can cause serious problems when used by healthy women. A recent case study disclosed the effects of long-term use in a 26 year old bodybuilder. (the woman denied using any other type of drug, including anabolic steroids) she took 20 to 40mg of Novaldex a day for 6 months. She used it because she heard that it would help lower body-fat.
Novaldex did indeed speed fat loss from her buttocks and upper thighs - both of which have a preponderance of estrogen receptors in women. Paradoxically, however, it also limited her ability to loose fat from her abdominal area. There there were the side effects: loss of breast mass (oh yes), night sweats and hot flashes due to the chemical menopause induced by Novaldex (not fun). Because it effectively blocks estrogen action in women, it also increases testosterone activity.
Novaldex is linked to serious side effects in women:
Endometrial cancer, or cancer of the uterus
Excessive blood clotting, which can lead to stroke
Birth defects if used during pregnancy
Ovarian cysts
Loss of bone density due to lack of estrogen activity
Cataracts and other eye damage affecting the cornea and retina
Hot flashes
Vaginal discharge
Loss of sex drive
Personally, i would never run Tamoxifen for periods exceeding 4 to 6 weeks precontest. I would never run anything over 20mg ed and i almost always add Proviron at 25mg. Nothing too heavy but I will not compete without the Nolva/Proviron combo as it is an absolute must have for those last few weeks before a show, IMHO. I absolutely love it. But Nolva must not be dropped suddenly and make sure you dose it to where you have enough to ween off gradually after a show. Great for that last bit of stubborn fat in those dreaded areas: abdomen, thighs, buttocks. Now some theories state that Nolva has actually done the opposite in some women and made fat loss almost impossible, however there are no studies or any solid evidence to prove that.
