week off

Was out of town for a week. No workouts for 8 days and ate like a pig.
I live in Calif and went to Georgia. First day back at the gym felt great.
Worked out long and heavy. Strength even went up a little. Seems like
the week off actually did me good. Lost a few ache's and pains. I usually
hate to miss working out but I guess sometimes your body needs it.
Any of you take schedualed time off??? and how's it work for ya??
 
I do. I'll usually work out for about 12 weeks or so then take a week off. It also depends on how I feel. If I suddenly feel wiped out, I'll skip a day or two. Most often it is like what you experienced. I feel stronger, and the pains have all gone away.
 
I take a full week off every 8-10 weeks. When I'm off, I eat super fuckin perfect. I always want to take advantage of that recovery time, and yeah, when you start back up again you feel a lot better.
 
lol.. i take a week off every 3 years or something... lol. But now the wife keeps planning vacations, so that might change.
 
as i get older i notice taking time off is needed. a week away from the gym every now and then makes a hugh diffrence both mentally and physically.

i kinda just listen to my body , when i stop gaining or am really tired all the time i know its time for a break.
