Alright I know alot of you eat egg whites , but what about whole egg...

I have always heard that too many whole eggs are bad for you because of the cholesterol , well the whole egg gives lots of nutrients , more protein , makes the protein in the egg white easier for the body to absorb.

So is it really bad to eat lots of whole eggs , for an active person. Who eats clean diet otherwise?

I read that its actual good cholesterol from the eggs but bad if their cooked.

Alright next question.. Cause ive made up mind im goin to eat alot of them.

Protein in eggs I hear is easier for body to absorb while its cooked... Vs. Raw..
Whats the opinion ... PROOF , and evidence on this.

Because I would hate to have alot of protein from the mornings come from eggs , but waste some of it since im eatin them raw , Also I wouldnt want to cook them if I didnt have to since the protein degration

i eat the whole thing. A little extra cholesterol isnt going to hurt you unless your prone for it, are way overweight, and dont exercise regularly. Most people eat mcdonalds for lunch. Trust me a whole egg is better for you then a big mac.

your reading into things too much. Cooking them isnt gonna degregate protein. Its also not going to in most things. Sometimes protein powders do but not whole foods. Eating raw eggs that arent pastureized egg whites are a bad idea. Im sure you can find out for yourself why that is. You also need cooked eggs because even pasteurized egg whites wont allow you to absorb alot of the nutrients in the egg. This is why most "well thought out" diet plans incorporate both like 5 whole eggs and 5 egg whites etc. Dont eat them raw though you watch too many rocky movies lol.

i eat about 4 hard boiled eggs a day. Easy to just bring them to work and have one every couple hours.

not worried about salmonela cause of pasteurized but , no more raw eggs.

Just put 2 in microwave with tad bit of milk , they come out so fluffy... Im going to start doing microwaves eggs , mixed with ground oatmeal in like blender.

8 eggs and a double protein shake is what i have for breakfast. Its about 1300 good cals tostart your day off!

I used to eat raw eggs until I read up on how they do not digest as well

I prolly have eaten a few hundred raw eggs in the past couple years never got sick from them.

However, it's funny how the only eggs i've ever seen with blood in them was when I was eating them raw. It would always be the last egg I cracked in a glass and i've to throw the whole thing away. Only happened a couple times though

I won't comment on cholesterol and eggs in specific, but generally your cholesterol levels will correlate more highly with your genetic heritage and overall fitness level. A lot of the cholesterol you eat gets broken down for energy or is used by your body to create steroid hormones (yes, including test, as well as its precursors and cousins). Eggs may be better or worse for your cholesterol than eating other foods. For a long time, scientific opinions on this have varied depending on who pays for the study. If it's a concern, my advice would be to keep an eye on it and - as body2see did - follow your doctor's advice.

Yes, you can also get food poisoning from eating raw eggs. You can usually eat a lot of raw stuff of all kinds and not get sick as long as it's fresh. People are usually fine after eating sushi, raw eggs, or rare meat. I know people who've done it for years and have been fine. However, it only takes one serving of something that's been sitting around a little too long for you to get extremely sick.

I personally use Eggbeaters (or more frequently, whatever the store brand is). If you want to chug it raw - as I've done many times - it's pasteurized and should be fine. It's also easier because you don't have to blend it. My only complaint is that it sticks to a pan like hell, but that won't matter if you're not cooking it. The protein is a little less per serving, but there is no fat and no cholesterol. The lack of fat makes Eggbeaters great for cutting calories. You can make up for the slightly lower protein by drinking a little bit more of it. You can also probably get almost the same nutrition as in whole eggs if you make up the calorie difference between eggs and Eggbeaters with some mixed nuts, beans, flax seeds, etc. All of those have healthier sources of fat than eggs and additional protein.

You will not destroy protein in foods by cooking unless you burn the food. That can cause the proteins to curl into prions or break down, but usually burnt foods tastes like crap, so it's generally not a concern. Basically, cooking food won't affect proteins; burning it will. Only proteins in the burnt part will be affected, so even if you like your burgers well done, only the proteins on the outermost part are damaged.

Since I've already been pimping Eggbeaters, I'll also recommend TheDailyPlate.com. I thought I knew a lot about what I ate until I started tracking the nutrition for everything I eat using that site. Don't follow their guidelines for eating - they'd have you eating something like 20% protein, 30% fat, and 50% carbs for your calorie breakdown - but it's awesome for tracking what you eat. Most every single ingredient you can think of or buy in a grocery store or meals from national food chains are in their nutrition database already. If you're really serious about keeping track of what you eat, which is essential if you want to hit your goals, I highly recommend it. Alright, I'm done hustling shit now, and no I'm not getting paid or affiliated with either brand I mentioned :)

if you deprive your self of cholesterol your body will manufacture it. I eat whole eggs and my cholesterol is fine.....Genetics play a fairly large role in cholesterol but if you active, athletic and you get your cholesterol checked you shouldnt shy away from whole eggs........and a supplement called policosinol has shown in studdies to work just as well as prescription statin drugs lowering cholesterol 30% with 10mg daily plus it's dirt cheap.

cholesterol is not evil it's vital.

Ballsoutpunk pretty much covered everything. As anecdotal evidence, I've been eating 8+ whole eggs a day and my cholesterol levels are fine. High cholesterol runs in the family as well.

According to Anthony Ricciuto, B.Phed. C.F.T. S.P.N. S.W.M. F.T. eating eggs in the raw form will leach vitamins and minerals from your body. He recomends cooking them. He is a nutrition expert that writes for Powerlifting USA.
