The new headliner features light heavyweights Anthony Smith and Devin Clark as they clash in an impromptu main event on Saturday night.
Clark made weight at 204.5 pounds without any issues as he will now compete in his first main event. As for Smith, he was actually the final fighter to hit the scale as he weighed in at 205 pounds.
Headlining UFC Vegas 15 will be Smith’s seventh consecutive main event as he seeks to get back in the win column after suffering back-to-back losses to Glover Teixeira and Alexandar Rakic earlier this year.
The new main event between Smith and Clark will be contest for five rounds as confirmed to MMA Fighting by UFC officials on Friday.
Unfortunately, Brazilian competitor Norma Dumont did not fare as well as the headliners as she failed to make the mark for her bantamweight showdown with Ashlee Evans-Smith. The former featherweight came in at 139.5 pounds — 3.5 pounds over the limit for a non-title bantamweight fight.
Dumont had previously documented her struggle to get back down to bantamweight during an interview with MMA Fighting while revealing she still had 13.2 pounds just four days away from the official weigh-ins. Obviously, Dumont was not able to shed the additional weight as she came in heavy for her fight with Evans-Smith.
Dumont will give up 30 percent of her purse for missing weight as her fight with Evans-Smith will move forward as scheduled.
