Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC After a nearly five-year layoff, heavyweight Jarjis Danho announced his octagon return in a big way, knocking out Yorgan De Castro with a thunderous punch at UFC Vegas 23.
Danho and De Castro both threw right hands, but it was Danho’s that made contact with De Castro’s temple, shutting off the lights at the 3:02 mark of the first round in the preliminary card bout at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Initially, Danho took a tactical approach to facing power puncher De Castro, attacking the legs as his opponent looked to get inside. When De Castro sat down on a punch, he immediately ducked under and clinched up, hoping to finish a takedown. When De Castro quickly reversed, it was clear he would have to stand.
With a better placed punch, Danho had the final word on his opponent. And after a staggering layoff due to a string of cancelled fights, the finish couldn’t have been a better comeback for “Man Mountain,” whose previous appearance in 2016 ended in a draw against Christian Colombo.
De Castro, meanwhile, suffers his third straight loss after decision setbacks against Carlos Felipe and Greg Hardy.
