After Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 24, all of the fighters squared off, with Stephens adding a little extra when he came face-to-face with Klose. The longtime UFC veteran shoved Klose squarely in the chest, which led to the fighters immediately being separated.

It’s unclear why Stephens chose to get physical with Klose a day before fight night, but Klose seemed surprised. He cursed at Stephens afterwards before the two exited the stage.

Saturday marks Stephens’ first fight at 155 pounds since Dec. 8, 2012. He ended that lightweight run on a three-fight skid with losses to Yves Edwards, Donald Cerrone, and Anthony Pettis. He dropped down to featherweight where he went 8-9 with one no contest, with a pair of weight misses including in his most recent outing against Calvin Kattar at UFC 249 in May of last year (Stephens was 4.5 pounds over the limit for that fight).
Stephens is winless in his past five outings (including one no contest) and hasn’t seen his hand raised inside the octagon since February 2018.
Klose recently saw a three-fight winning streak snapped by Beneil Dariush in March 2020. His UFC record stands at 5-2.
