Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Dwight Grant will take on promotional newcomer Jared Gooden at the UFC APEX. Line Movement was first to report the booking.
Since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, Grant has won two of three octagon appearances. “The Body Snatcher” dropped a split decision to Zak Ottow in his promotional debut in December 2018, and bounced back with back-to-back wins over Carlo Pedersoli and Alan Jouban.
With 17 professional wins under his belt, Gooden gets his opportunity with the UFC. “Nite Train” has finished three consecutive opponents, including a second-round TKO win over Trent McCown in the main event of Titan FC 62 this past month.
The UFC’s Aug. 22 event features a bantamweight bout between Pedro Munhoz and Frankie Edgar in the main event, as well as a middleweight showdown between Yoel Romero and Uriah Hall.
