Time of day to lift

Just curious as to opinions on am workouts as opposed to pm for those that have a reg. job.

Arnold says mornings, many pro's also I think.

I like it when I can arise early enough, but sometimes it's tuff when it's cold out and I feel stiff in the joints sometimes.

i like the morning workouts too, the best from my point of view, the best caz your testesteron is at high level in the morning than during the day, caz of the rest and body is ready for another breakdown...but i hear you about waking up and the cold and the stiff joints but usually you get the heart rate up with light activities and increase your temp up...

Thanks man. Well, I know, as they say, it takes 3 weeks to establish a habit.
I am going to try harder to discipline my self to it. Also, nice to just keep eating throughout the day without worrying about being to full for a workout and doing whatever after work.
+ I take 10-20 grams of L-Glutamine before my workouts lately and real feel a boost as well as with the coffee.

I read in mag that a great am wkout boost is taurine, caffeine and something else which helps with energy and focus. I'll try to find it.
The glutamine is helpful in GH release and is the most abundant amino acid in skeletal muscle tissue so taking it after along with taurine the 2nd most abundant would be helpful too. Try TAG (trans alanyl glutamine) it is more effective and better absorbed allowing you to use less and save some flow.

So is there any Am pre-workout meal or just the glutamine, taurine? or caffeine.... if this is the case then i can easily do all my workout every morning pretty much, but i will wait to see if there is any pre-workout meal...lol

Depends on your goals? Lose wt=no carbs, need energy (endurance) have piece of fruit to increase liver glycogen, etc.

You should always have some type of protein though within an hr before wkout.

well am trying to lose the bf%...but my diet is still good after the cycle i just had.... so i guess it would be nice to have a meal and then workout caz i don't want to lose the muscle, just shred the bf% a bit...

I vote for the morning workout. It is easier to skip an afternoon or evening workout based on mood, exhaustion, or outside interference.

i used to be a morning guy but now i go in the afternoon because i can bring my son to the daycare for the hour im hittin it

Morning

Monring time only thing I am doing is 45mins of walking at 5:30 am and then eating breakfast and lifting around 2:00.

Morning.

It's just easier to make sure I don't miss any workouts that way.

I have to many unexpected job related things happen that inter fear with my evening.

I lift at 6AM b/c too many things that could take place that could affect my workout in the afternoon or eveing. I go to school and work 2 jobs so morning is the obvious time for me.

I was thinking of changing my lifting hours to the morning as well. Something like 6:30am. Does anyone have any eating suggestions pre-workout and at what time I should eat? I'm trying to gain weight, just don't want to eat too much before my workout.

I try to do cardio in the Am, and lift at night. Its tough, but I still get it done. Nothing better in the morning, walking out of the gym down for the day.

How about doing AM lifting and Cardio like basketball in the PM...would you loose your pumps from this? I am trying to shred the last hard BF and want to use Basketball. I hate to do treadmill and all...so i use b-ball.

Also would i need to increase my carb intake or just up the calories as much as i can?

Pre-workout meal 20 grams of isolate, 1 gram of hydrolysed isolate, some glutamine, glycine, guarana, chocamine, and honey about 20 minutes before workout. = Less than 1/2 cup of drink.
Then really add it on for the postworkout shake.

I vote for evening. I'm a night owl so my body seems to work better with an evening workout. I tried the morning workouts and had a harder time getting through my routine. The only way I kept things from interfering with the workout was to schedule exercise time and not let anything preempt it. I scheduled everything else around it--even work. I've been able to do this successfully for eight years.

I like to relax in the morning.

Maybe a light jog if I'm trying to lose some fat.

I love to workout at night. I get great sleeps after a hard workout.

IMO, I think the time of day when one works out is not of utmost importance at all. As long as you bust ass while you are there...thats all that counts. I work shift work...have worked out as early as 5 am, mid day at 3 pm and as late as 11 pm. Had great workouts with each. :)
