Bench record holder..

Good question. Lately I've been getting more into raw numbers without any type of assistance. Check out a young guy named Nick Winters. I think in the next year or two he will break the all time raw record which is held by Mendelson.

I'm not impressed with any lift at any weight unless it's raw, the fact that those shirts add so much to your lift is ridiculous. It's just using technology to get a bigger lift without being stronger.

it's either raw or it's fake!

I'm inclined to agree. A display of raw strength lifting without one of those shirts is far more impressive to me, IMO.

Mike, the raw versus equipped lifting has and always will be a huge arguement with powerlifters. To be competitive though you have to use what the other guys are using.

Me personally , I dont think bench shirts should be allowed at all while benching... Should be all RAW numbers.. That football player umm Larry Allen , he benchs 700 RAW http://www.bench-press.net/article/larry-allen-bench-press.html

While Allen is strong as shit I would venture to say his 700 bench was probably done with a bounce, poor form, and butt up in the air. Just a hunch, and I won't ever know without seeing a video of the lift.

powerlifters are non-dedicated bodybuilders
look how fat and out of shape that guy is

Having six percent bodyfat is not going to put you at your optimal strength level however.

The same could be said for bodybuilders that use drugs to put on more mass and help get bodyfat lower.

Well said....point taken.

You or no one else needs to be impressed with what he has done but what he has done isn't fake at all.

I'm not a powerlifter and I also wouldn't want to look like most of them but this is what they do and if he needs to wear a shirt so that he can compete with all the other guys in the sport then so be it. It no more fake then Cutler's muscle size when you see his frig opened and he has insulin, gh and what ever else he needs to compete with everyone else. It is what it is and it's far from fake there are a lot of genetics that play a role in what we all achieve no matter if you use steroids or wear a shirt.
