no lat machine and no pull up bar

I really need to figure out how to set up something for lats better than doing rows. I've got limited clearance in my new "gym" read basement and I'm looking for ideas...

Pullovers are awesome, a must for your routine. Also do you have a smith machine??? You can do reverse rows on that and you'll really hit your lats.

Hey Fonz, good to see you around.

I don't have a Smith Machine but I do have a half squat cage. What exactly are reverse rows?

You grab the bar with a wider than shoulder width grip. Palms facing down. You are going to look like an upside down pushup where your facing the ceiling. Place your feet on a bench to add difficulty to the exercise. With your arms wider than shoulder width apart and the heel of your feet on a bench pull yourself up to the bar. Pause and then slowly lower yourself down. I'll try to find a pic for ya bud.

ahhhh yes I've done these in the past, I can do these with the squat rack I have now as sort of a modified push up. thanks bro.

I'd say put in a pull up bar (easy, even for you) and you can do weighted pull-ups.
Reverse rows (to me) are bent over rows w/barbell but you grab bar like you are
doing curls (palm up) and raise elbows to the up past your back to the roof - same
as bent over rows but grip is reversed. (same thing you talking about Da Fonz??)
Dumbbell pullovers are supposed to be hell on the shoulders - I love them
(HEAVY) but I dont do them every back workout.

What the hell does that mean??? lol
I can't put in a pull up bar because the ceiling is too low for me. I'm going to have to make a custom pull up bar myself that I can set into the ceiling joists, which are really the floor joists for the first floor, obviously it'll need to be strong enough to support my weight++.

Gbart start welding something that will fit into the frame of my ceiling that can support 300lbs. minimum.

Bro., I thought you said you were 4'8". My bad. You could do them from your
knees w/weight. Sorry - just stopped laughing
from that visual.

I'm 6'2" and if you keep it up,
I'll be coming for you...

Now I'm rhyming like Pressy Pants.

Wow, My reverse rows are different then da Fonz. Thats what we call them out
here. (or mabey we call them rows w/reverse grip) well I learned a new
exercise.

ive used the smith machine bar or squat rack bar to do pullups on. my ceiling is only like 7ft. and im 6'1" easy so they aren't pretty pullups. But do them from the knees.

I usually assist with my feet since im not strong enough to do good, slow controlled pullups. I can half ass a dozen of them though. :D

thanks bro, I didn't even think of doing pull ups from my knees, I'll start them tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes.

yeah ill weld you something up bro you pay shipping haha. Ive done exactly what fonz was talking about and it feels pretty good. ive also used a waist belt and chain to hand weight off of and make it more difficult. What kind of rows are you doing right now bro?

I've been using the shitty gym pulldown at my job, the gym sucks but the lat machine isn't bad so I can at least hit pulldowns but I split my workout up and do back here and everything else at home.

For some reason I dont know what they are called but a must for my lats is the bentover lat pulldowns with a rope, you know the ones arnold does on Pumping Iron. Its like drinkin a redbull, it gives me wings! haha ok that was gay srry

you have a bar at home right bro? do some bent overs? bent over rows pulldowns and those bar pulls we were talkin about earlier in the thread should work pretty good.
