Gymnast builds

I think I asked this before, but here goes again. How in the world do those gymnast get their huge size by only doing bodyweight exercises? I almost want to go through the same training if it will make me look like that. How long does it take for them to build up to that size anyway?

As a general rule, they start training at or just before 7 years old. A kid that goes to school with my daughter is an olympic gymnast in training on the still rings. He just turned 14 last year and on his first day of weight training in school, he deadlift 405 lbs!!!! He is 5'3" and 130lbs. I don't know about you, but I can not even come close to doing a planche pushup but I can toss 400 lbs in the air pretty easily. He can do them all day long and not sweat. Go figure??

I went to grammer school with a "fat" kid - we teased him but he was pretty tough.
He was a swimmer. His dad took him to practice before school, Picked him up after
school to go again to practice and again at night he would go to swim practice. I
remember as far back as the third grade him doing this. Well, In the 8th grade we
started boys PE, with locker rooms and changing ect. This fat kid took off his shirt
and he looked like a fucking Mr. America. Huge rib cage, chest, sholders and ripped
abs. Not to get off the gymnastics (I also was always impressed with their muscle)
but I guess starting at such a young age your body has only one thing to do - GROW!

It could be me, but I remember most of the gymnast buddies I had in high school and college, were not huge by many standards. They were however, ripped as we see in the olympics. On TV they look jacked AND huge. Up close they are of average height, but a V like a God, a waist of a 12 year old, and insane delts.

It's just how I saw it. But then again my glasses are pretty rosy.

exactly. when just your upper body is built, the illusion is a jacked upper body.
