Powerlifting

I was thinking about doing something a little different to "shock" my body a little bit looking for some input and advice. I have never powerlifted before doing the deadlifts and such so I may need a little coaching.

Im coming up on the end of my 6th week of my current workout cycle, I was thinking for week 6 I would powerlift every other day doing a complete body workout then week seven would be just cardio all week not lifting then week 8 would be right back to my old routine, but in a different order for example move chest to a different day and instead of pairing chest and tris I would put chest alone and maybe pair tris and something else.

Anyways what do you guys think any advice/tips, also what would you tell someone who has never powerlifted before about doing deadlifts and such.

preaty simple movements but also lifts that could get you hurt if not done corectly especialy deads in my opinion so if i were you i would do some research and punch power lifting into the search ingine and look at some form of some powerlifters. i use deads for lower back and all i can tell you is that i keep the bar/weight as close to my body as i can get it. i alway start the movement with my legs and literaly drag it up my shins that is what i mean by close, and the bigest thing that i believe no matter what look up at the ceiling it puts your spinal chord into a natraul state of alignment. to keep from injureing your back, and to end my 2 cents start light and know your limitations.oh yeah and breathe or you will blow an o ring you silly shit.lol

lol at blow an o ring. I have to agree with hector def. get in it slow if you plan too. Your body will not be used to it. Dont be afraid to start light and build up from there. Maybe a better idea for you would be to just switch up some of your exercises. like instead of doing tricep pushdowns do closegrip bench. Instead of pulldowns do bent over rows. It will incorporate a whole new movement in the muscle and will help it grow.

P.S. hector look at the cieling? ive never heard that if i looked up at the ceiling while deadlifting i think i would fall over backwards lol.

Deadlifts are great. Just stick to light deads and you will be fine. There are many variations of the deadlift. There are:

conventional deads
sumo deads
stiff legged deads
romanian deads
zercher deads

I love 'em. I think that squats are far more dangerous than deadlifts.

So many guys are afraid to start light because of what people will think... I can tell you this. You look a lot more stupid doing a lift wrong because you're going to heavy than going light and doing it right. Not that you would do that. Just a tip..

Yeah ive seen people try to show off and end up toppling over, fainting or just shit there pants.......I started light to get the movement right.....
