Good or Bad training methods???

Love them, always done them, always will.

In support of the idea of doing it, I've seen many rite-ups in MD (and even MM) that toute great benifits. I think Hany was the last guy I remember writing on it and he said they were good to go with proper form and healthy shoulders.

I'm not brave or smart enough to them on anything but a smith machine; I believe I tried once and ended up hurting myself.

I never do them or anything behind the neck. The only nagging injury I have had over the years is pinched cartilage in my neck. Doing behind the neck presses is a sure way to re pinch the cartilage.

I stay far far away.

i think they are a great exercise when done right with not crazy amounts of weight. I do them on the smith machine since its easier to control the weight and i have lagging shoulder injuries.

never... I never do them.. only because of 2 reasons .. 1 it's a really UN-NATURAL Placement to put the shoulder joint..which leads me right into the 2nd reason, I watch a very well built man of about 5'10" 260lbs.. 8ish% BF .. been training for years.. do a moderately light behind the necck shoulder press.. and I watched.. I WATCHED.. I FLIPPIN' WATCHED this dude's ARM (Shoulder) BLOW right out of socket.. I saw the dislocation.. witnessed..as i sit here typing this I am getting sick to my stomach reliving that memory... **shudder**

same here! i get that annoying pinch and cant hold my head up after it happens

I used to do them as my main shoulder exercise prior to my pec tear and I went very heavy. It felt natural to me. After the pec was better I didn't do anything with a supposed increased chance of injury. So I never did anything behind the neck again.

been doing them all my life... some times 315 behind the neck (now maybe 275).. no problems.

I have heard the same thing from kinesiologists before--very unnatural shoulder placement. At my age, I won't do behind the neck anymore. My shoulder would probably blow out like that other guy if I tried to do too much.

used to do barbell heavy. Loved them. Just cant do them anymore, the years of wear and tear on my sholders and probably scar
tissue, they hurt too much. I can still do them on Hammer and like machines. I just think it is the years of abuse I put on them
my mobility is shot.

nope, never...nothing natural about those movements...the body is not meant to push or pull in that manner...
injury waiting to happen
