would you rather bodybuilding go by height classes?

What do you think? Height or Weight classes?

I have competed in the 'Classic' class for my last two shows. This is based on an equation referenced to your height, and from this they determin your MAXIMUM stage weight on the day. for example

Im 6ft 1" or 184cm ...
maximum body weight = body height [cm] minus 100 + 6 kg

So therefore on the day i can hit the stage at 90kg or 14 Stone or 198lbs

Now for someone that sticks at around the 17 stone mark normally this sucks, and i have to say i wont compete in this class again. The sacrifice of size is just too much.

So in answer to your question, I would rather go by weight next time than height

i'm 50/50 on this one.....i do think that tall and short would help bring back some of the "classic" type physiques as we save prior to the mid 90's to present time.....

Given current judging standards I would have to go with weight classes. If we went to height classes there would be MW guys competing with me... too much variation. At least with weight classes people as closer to carrying the same amount of tissue.

yep. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Sadly, I do think irish is right about height classes emphasizing the physiques of yesterday, as I am a big fan of arnold's body type, and he was what, 6'4"? I mean seriously, most guys that size nowadays are carrying 275 even at weigh in. They have the dry ripped look, but the emphasis on a small waste is almost nonexistent; they all look as though they have distended abdomens and many do indeed have minor cases of gyno. It's astounding to me that it appeared as though so few had no cases of gyno and yet they really did not know that much about AI's, SERM's, and PCT protocol altogether.... :surprised

NABBA does height classes and I will never do another one of their shows, PERIOD. I'm 5'8" and on stage at the last NABBA show was 143 shredded (pics in the member comp section) and was up against another 5'8" guy that outwieghed me by at least 45 pounds, no joke. His back was fucking massive compared to mine, the definition wasn't even comparable, I had him killed, but he was just much larger than me and overshadowed me tremendously. I finished behind him in every line up. I can show pics from the stage, but for me, height sucks because I'm too thin to be good at 5'8". Now if I was 225 at 5'8" I might feel differently

Honesty I dont care..I think ht classes would be kinda cool...kinda old school ...but I always say the best man will when, no matter what he weights or how tall...You could be 5-8 and 199 and ripped to the bone, or 5-8, and 215lbs but soft and holding water...ofcourse the guy at 199lbs will win ...

I was at the Houston Pro with a german guy next to me 6'2'' and weighting 300 lb and a guy from french on my other side, 6'4'' weighting 284 pounds, i was 230 lb and i noticed people dont even noticed i was there, i looked like their little son....lol, of course it doenst matter, they didnt win anyway ....
The best man will always win.
