Hurt my damn quad again

It was cold out yesterday and I broke my rule of never training legs in the morning. I warmed up, had my knee bands, and compression shorts and started warming up. After 15 at 365 I figured I'd stat a little lighter and see how many I could do with 425 (expecting near 20). It was light as can be, but on my way up on the 2nd rep I felt a twinge in my upper right vastus medialis. I stopped and just did hams. Within an hour I couldn't walk. I've done some ultrasound and DMSO and I can at least walk today, but can't do stairs. WTF? Why does this shit happen? I wasnt even going heavy?!

No bruising or anything and it's getting better quickly. I guess it's just one of those things. The shitty part is I'm sure it will feel pretty much 100% by the time I get to legs again, but I don't know what weight / exercises I could do safely

damn bro, im squatting the same weights for reps i think its heavy as shit lol, what is heavy weight to you?

That is the ONLY time I get hurt is when the weight isn't heavy! It sucks and I am not sure we don't relax in some sort of way because the weight isn't heavy our intensity or form in some way suffers or we just for a split moment lose focus??? All I know is when I get in the 500-600+ lb weight I have never hurt myself!

500's and up is heavy. As Former said, I think that the heavier weights make you lock everything in position better. When the weight is lighter it's like I get giddy and may lean too far forward or just come up without thinking of keeping everything in line and driving straight up. It feels substantially better today. I can walk fine and sit down, stand up, and stairs. I think it was just a minor pull. Maybe some scar tissue from the damage a year and a half ago when I tore some tissue, dislocated the knee cap, and tore the medial retinaculum. I keep to a bunch of sets at 225 next leg day and see how it goes.

It's hard to tell man, I think you'll be alright, just be mindful of it when you do squat again

Why are you doing 425 for 20 reps? To me this is counter productive especially if it means you're going to always be pushing the envelope of getting hurt.

I thought that with the lighter weight I stood less of a chance of getting hurt. It was a morning session and cold out. Also it was one of those days where things felt really light so I didn't want to go heavy. Besides, it's seems like my legs like 12+ reps at the very least. Either way I think it was bound to happen. I'm overtrained and need a little rest.

Could have just been one of those freak things too. I was walking through the house the other day and my knee popped. I thought the ACL or MCL or one of those had let loose. It hurt like hell the rest of the day, then just faded away.
