I'm usually quite self-driven when it comes to training, but recent events are making it hard to be as motivated. I'm sure I'll get back that drive, but, right now it's not quite the same.
I had a *stupid* accident at home. She who must be obeyed wanted a smallish tree taken out of the yard. No problem! It's a conifer, so cut off branches around it to get to the trunk, chop down tree, carry tree to side of house to await disposal. Easy, right?
Well, I clipped the fence post when carrying the tree behind the garage. It shifted/rolled and I got both arms(biceps) somewhat skewered with the bits of branches that had been quickly cut off. Didn't think anything of it, just pulled back, cleaned the punctures (like large splinters, really, didn't hit any blood vessels, after all) and continued the yard work.
Few days later, lucky me - hot/red/sore and I'm beginning to run a fever. Sound familiar? As a frequent reader of the forum, it sounded just like an infected injection site...and....yes...it's just the same.
Was in hospital for a week after they diagnosed it and cut open both biceps to drain out the infection...intravenous antibiotics *plus* oral for a week, then 2 orals for a week after release. Only got to start training again last week - had been nearly a month, so significant size loss, contributed to the lower calorie intake while lying essentially unmoving in a hospital bed for a week.
So now, I'm looking at the work I'm going to have to *carefully* do just to get back where I was, let alone make progress, all because of a stupid accident. Suffice it to say, I'm less than enthused. I do want to get going again, but it's kind of "Didn't I already do this?"
Having read comments from many of you that have had health issues that interfered with the gym - how did you get that drive back?
