I am not sure where or when it happened but about a week before it happened I noticed while driving I felt a gnawing feeling in my mid back (just left of the spine around the T5 and T6 area I think). I figured it was a rib out of place. I also noticed that week a weird feeling in my left ribs... Not really an itch feeling but more like I wanted to reach in them and kind of massage them hard. A week later I was training chest and back together and later that day I got a weird feeling in same area. I went to chiro and got an adjustment, but no relief. This was 7 weeks ago (Oct 29). Since then I have been to 3 other chiros and have been told the feelings in the side and front ribs are muscle spasms. I cannot duplicate the feeling when at a Dr or Chiro office. I have also been to 2 Dr's. One gave me Flexeril for spasms. He prescribed 3 a day at 10 mgs each and within a week my resting heart rate was like 100, and it is normally 54 to 65. The second Dr prescribed valium and said MRI in a few weeks if it does not subside or get better. I don't have insurance and these visits are adding up quickly.

I feel the discomfort (not pain) when I lie on my back or sitting just to the left of my spine around the T5 or T6, and some weird feeling that wraps around from that area to the front of ribs. The rib feeling is not all the time, but just some times.

What could have started all this was feeding our 3 cats about 3 times in the middle of the night while I am still laying down. I have to strecth and reach 3 bowls, and the food dish, about 3 times a night and wonder if I have created some kind of muscle strain twisting and reaching for their food and dishes several times a night. Of course I quit feeding them like that about 3 weeks ago.

I found this article where soemone else had similar symptoms, but seeing of anyone else has experienced this, and how long it takes to heal. I haven't trained my back in weeks now. I try to ice the left back and left ribs about 3 times a day and use bio freeze.

I am experiencing pain in the left side of my back and ... - JustAnswer

Any ideas or help or suggestions??

Chiropractor brotha. I had a constant nagging pain in what I thought was my lat and thought it was a pulled muscle and after about 4 sessions of adjustments and laying on a rolling machine I felt 100% better. Have you tried a foam roller?

You feed your cats 3x per night?

Anyways, Sounds like you twisted something funny...I've somehow caused horrible pains in my neck and back just from turning around. I must be getting old. lol.

I have had my midback spasm and caused it my neck to hurt when i looked down, it just took time, i tried stretching, heat, massage, muscle relaxers and it's just time resting that helped. o yea mine was caused by a cough that made my back seize up.

Yeah Bro sounds like a pulled muscle or a spasm. They can be crazy painful and last a LONG time. Get a deep tissue message and try not to cry
