Pinched l4 nerve!

I have a pinched l4 nerve fellas. What should I do? I honestly don't know anything about pre-hab/re-hab because my attitude has always been if you're worried about injuries try palates haha, but I guess that's why I'm in this situation.

I'd appreciate any knowledge you guys have.

just rest bro, it will usually work itself out, I'm not entirely where l4 is though, i have issues between c4-c7 so I'm assuming yours is lower down the spine/back. Rest is best for pinched nerves bro in my opinion.

I have had very good luck with A.R.T. chiropractic. A.R.T is Active Release Techniques. You can find a provider on the ART website, along with each one's certifications. Not all of them have all the certs. One such cert is "Nerve Entrapment". A.R.T. is 'soft tissue work', sometimes accompanied by a traditional chiropractic adjustment and sometimes not. I've had very good luck with it.

L4 is the 4th vertebra in the lower lumbar. Did you notice this during a certain lift or movement? Or did you just wake up this way one morning? And, have you ever had problems in this area previously?

Thanks for the feedback guys, sorry I've been very busy. Yes, this injury was from high rep deadlifting way back in the summer. It started out light and I just had to keep pushing it until it's practically unbearable now. I think rest is key like Presser said. I'm seeing a doc in a couple weeks about it. Most standing lifts hurt minus deadlifts oddly enough.

try a chiropractor, and consider investing in an inversion table. hang upside down for 5-10 minutes a day. sometimes for something like a pinched nerve it can work first try just by putting some space in between the disks, letting the nerve slide out.

NO HAVE YOU? AND IS IT ANY GOOD? SOMEONE BROUGHT THIS UP LAST YEAR, AND I HAD TO GOOGLE IT, PRETTY COOL STUFF!

I sure have. Last year I pinched a nerve in my lower back and when I finally got back in the gym, someone suggested Rock Tape to help with the pain that was still lingering after a month. I paid a trainer at my gym to apply it correctly for the first time and immediately felt relief instead of the dull thumping pain. I preceded to dead lift, squat and perform walking lunges with ZERO pain during and after my workout.Honestly, I was shocked at how well it worked, since I intially thought it was a big gimmick. The tape lasts about 5-7 days through sweating and showering and basically pulls the skin away from the injured area and allows proper blood flow.

yeah I was always curious what separates this tape from other tapes that could do the same thing, and i think its the length at which it lasts and its quality. Though i haven't used it, i have seen some youtube videos on how to apply it, and it looked pretty cool but you have to know how to wear it / put it on. Surprised you had to pay someone though to apply it to ya

LOL. Well, my girl was going to apply it, but the Rock Tape website acted like it was really important for it to be applied by someone "trained" in the application of the tape. lol. My girl has applied it ever since. There are directions that come with it, and we can read! :)

Cobra, Im one of those who do not believe in letting someone 'manipulate' my spine. I have L3-L5 and S1 injuries... some damage done by an impact incident, the rest done by a chiro who didnt know his ass from a hole in the ground. My original injury was only at the L4-L5 disc... I went to a chiro after the initial ER visit and let him twist me up. 6 months later, Im at the Ortho because I cant stand the pain anymore. He compares the ER records to the tests he had done and gave me all kinds of heck for letting a chiro touch my spine.
Do yourself a favor, see a spine specialist... they will probably prescribe heat, rest, and maybe a muscle relaxer until the nerve corrects itself. dont let anyone twist and pop your spinal column. good luck and do let us know how you are doing.

Damn now theirs going to be a whole new industry of "Tape Trainers" and you will need to get Certified in Tape Application, lol,

I think thats my next business venture, lmao. You pay me $200, I will send you a 2 dollar video in the mail along with your Tape Trainer Certificate, Certified by the School of MuscleChemistry! That actually sounds kind of real oddly enough lmao!!

I'm quite dubious of chiros myself as well. I did get adjusted, but my chiro is also an MD and we did x-rays before he even touched my back. Appreciate the write up brother.

i use to go to a chiro weekly, i did not like when he would manually twist me up and crask my back, but i did enjoy the table i laid on that had rollers go up and down your back, i think tha worked well in loosening me up and it felt so good,
