zero carbs/ anabolics

I've heard of in the 90's some guys at the top would go no carbs for weeks, but managed to hold size and even some gain muscle in the process.
Any one know of how this was done?

Of course we can all speculate but actual knowledge of growing into a show, and carb depleting. Some pros would get as lean as 3-4%bf.
which is near death. You don't just accomplish that by cycling carbs and doing fucking cardio.

I do almost zero carb on a regular basis; the look is sick when you get into low BF levels. Skin gets tight as the water leaves the body.

I normally loose 2-3 pounds the first day or two when the carb and water attached to them are eliminated. Depending on the amount of anabolics and calorie you can readily gain weight. You will need to keep calories up near or slighly above maintanance which can be difficult for some since this zero carb diet tends to kill your hunger. I usually go 1000-1200 below maintenace and lose about 3-4lbs a week with anabolics.

Another way to gain on this type diet is a hybrid of sorts where you are zero carb all day except around your workout. By doing this you slow the fat lose down, but keep the intensity in the gym and can gain muscle still using this diet.

The big problem I get on zero carbs is dizzyness and nausea it sucks feel like I'm gonna puke all day and it turns me into mr big a-hole

My personal best is zero carbs for 3 to 4 days then a 24 hour period of carbing up. Not Twinkies and junk. Good stuff rice whole grain kinda stuff then back to zero carbs 3 to 4 days and cycle that for a while. I plan my heavy lifting on the day after carb up. I feel stronger then.

Once you get into ketosis the dizzyness and nausea goes away. The secret is to get into ketosis as fast and safe as possible; you will have to learn how your body reacts, but with my last carb source and timed insulin. I can get into ketosis with in 4 hours.

it's hard to keep decent cholesterol levels with no carb too, always a catch, but i have seen people get in phenomenal shape and lost the most amount of fat out of any diet I have seen w no carb

Thanks for that info brother

Spot on! For me really low carbs for 3 days. I only have a small carb meal prior to working out and that's it. Then have good carbs for two meals and then repeat.

I'd really like to know your Macro breakdowns when in Keto if possible.
Thanks Bro

It really depends on if I do the hybrid version and also my activity level, sorry to be so vague. There are days when I play competative tennis for 2-3 hours at a time. Depending on how hard I am trying to cut; I will use carbs around this high level activity or if I am trying to cut hard I will use all MCT's (coconut oil) as my fat source

I try to do 35-P, 5-C, 60-F. When I do a hybrid, I take in custom carbs (highly branched cyclic dextrin) around my work out times 25g before 25g during with peptopro as my protien source.

After doing Keto based diets for over 15 years now, I am less concerned with the macro and go more off feel and how my body reacts. Sorry I can't be more specific help, I just know what works for my body.

Thanks for your response! You were not as vague, I got the gist of it. I'm glad you mentioned the type of carbs for your pre and intra, I was having trouble with that.
As for your fats, only MCTs? No butter or avocados or Fish Oil?

If you happen to have any Zofran, that will also help with the nausea although not so much with dizziness.

Sorry I forgot to clarify that. mostly fish oil/flax seed, nuts, butter and bacon grease is awesome. I usually use the MCT's (coconut oils) when I know that I am going to be doing some heavy lifting or heavy duty cardio; if you have no MCT's in your system you will feel like death warmed over. MCT's definitly give you energy.

I've read some things on guys in the 90's cutting water 4-5 days out with diretics and complex carb.
When nasser won the Arnold he supposedly hadn't drinking not one sip of water for 2 days, he started cutting water 5 days out. I couldn't Imagen the thirst.

That's simply mad fucking up your body like that. Later on he died of his complications. Not to mention he certainly was using insulin and igf1. Using diuretics while using insulin is simply asking for death. I can only imagine how he must've felt like backstage.

Thanks a lot Brother! How many tbsps of MCT oil prior to training or cardio?

By the way do you use Ketostix or a Gluccometer to test and see if ur in Keto? I learned the latter is much better at detecting if you are.
