    Default Intravenous ketamine therapy

I have had the opportunity to try this out to help with some of the things I’m going through lately. I wonder if anyone has heard of it or tried it besides me.

I’m a few minutes from starting my second treatment right now. The first one was interesting. The idea is that ketamine blocks withdrawal symptoms and in a Way resets your brain chemicals I guess (at least that’s how I understand it so far. Yes, you trip your balls off in a lazy boy in a dark room. Cute nurses come check on me from time to time. It lasts an hour and I’m currently going twice a week.

I just wanted to start this thread because I think it’s fascinating. Any thoughts? It’s supposed to help addiction, depression, PTSD and a myriad of other things.

I just read about it a couple months ago. My wife is bipolar and bad depression and constant anxiety and while I was reading up on her issues I came across ketamine therapy and read many articles on it as it caught my eye due to my knowing all about it , though we called it Special K back in the day when we would party on ecstasy and ketamine lol

Anyhow, I said it back then and I’ll say again now, there is something more to ketamine that needs to be studied! It was amazing in its ability to put me in sync with everyone around me whether they were using or not , but when they were on it with me it was communicating without talking lmao

i know that sounds odd but I promise you it’s true! Furthermore it didn’t work as a downer at all , but rather it energized the hell out of me! I never sniffed it like everyone did back then , I injected it I.M. Lol

I for one think a lot of things like ketamine need to be studied for off label new uses

i read your therapy specifically had a very good success rate. I can’t recall it off top of my head but remember thinking wow , about time they figured this out lol

Very interesting, please keep giving updates. I'm curious as to how this works for you, I'm dual diagnosed with addiction and also bipolar, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I've been through EMDR treatments which didn't help and of course tons of different psych meds which I don't take because I always seem to feel better without the crap. years ago I dabbled with some K but I've never heard of this, I hope all goes well and you get some positives from this.

First let me say, I love this community and how helpful, genuine and thoughtful members are to one another here. KUDOs to you daddio!

As for EMDR treatment, is that the treatment where they had vets coming back from war with PTSD and anxiety as well other issues, and they had them play virtual reality video games? I seen it on the news, and how they said it was successful and thought to myself, how is that possible. But ya never know i suppose! In any case, my apologies if EMDR treatment is not the same thing as what I explained, as I am not sure of what the treatment i seen is named. I just know they had these men and women play some downhill skiing video game and the vets themselves said they felt it worked.

i need to remember this, to tell my daughter. she's bipolar and always anxious. although, she seems to have difficulty just getting the doctor to listen, or if they suggest something may help, they don't do it. it's like the treatment is outsourced and she doesn't have an avenue to go down.

They have been trialing this for severe depression with very good results. Even after one treatment. Usually a small dose like 7-10mg. I personally have only used it as an adjunct patients for anesthesia because it doesn’t depress the heart rate. If I had one of these issues I would try anything. Good luck.

I saw a documentary I believe on HBO about using ketamine for some this purpose. Very interesting. I believe it was "Vice". I'll try and find it

I'm not sure how it started out but the way the procedure worked for me was different from what you explained. I set with a therapist and had ear buds in and held what looked almost like a small egg in each hand. The woman would tell me to think of a bad memory and get deep into thought. While doing so it was like the right ear bud would beep then the left then the egg in my left hand would vibrate and then the right egg would vibrate doing so like creating a circle. Going around my body I guess. The reason being is they claim when you have issues with PTSD and depression from something and the issue continues to bother you your brain didn't completely process it allowing you to get through it. Like all the steps of greiving the issue or whatever. I guess saying you didn't fully process it, it went so far and stopped in your brain not making its way all the way around allowing it to be dealt with and over with. Sorry for dragging it out but back to the ear buds and eggs lol. This is why it goes through a circle like motion, supposedly bouncing around your body getting your brain to make the full circle and allowing you to get over the issue. They make you think of the bad problem and don't hold me to it but as going through the procedure you then think of a good time with that person or whomever. My issue was my grand father shot himself then almost ten years later my did also done the same thing with same gun. So I would have to think about that and then think of my dad and a good time we had. I honestly can't say if it helped me a lot but I think it did some. Most of the others who were doing the EMDR at the office I went to were getting great benefits from it though. I was just a really screwed up individual for a long time and had a extreme drug problem trying to cover up my issues and wasn't taking much of anything serious. Finally a few years back I got serious and was able to get myself straightened out. I'm hopeful this ketamine treatment works thought because a lot of people are still out here suffering and haven't found there way out yet. This could be a great thing. I hope everybody can benefit from this. Thank you Presser and I hope I was able to provide some good info for you.
