New Front page Added To MC, my apologies for the forum crashing today.

I know a lot of you were booted off the site today, and the site overloaded and crashed. Very sorry, and it may have been simple traffic load or our new front page we just installed.

Anyhow, were obviously back up and if anyone sees anything glitchy, please post it here or pm me if possible, as the front page is pretty heavy with bells and whistles, so could be some glitches although we run a dedicated server and two seperate databases for forum and front page.

aNYONE EXPERIENCING ANY GLITCHES OR ISSUES?

i KNOW I HAD A HARD TIME REACHING THE FORUMS JUST NOW, AND RECIEVED A TIME OUT ERROR DUE TO TRAFFIC LOAD. ANYONE ELSE ?
 
Was it the site itself that crashed or downtime from the provider? I received a notification that the front page was down for 15 minutes this morning. I often see downtime from the provider as the issue, not that MC's server was not responding.
 
another time out error today. And yesterday as well. Yeah i dont see how a dedicated server for one site can get over loaded so often.
 
and it crashed again seconds after i posted this above message! lol

Vbulletin 4 software sucks balls on larger sites like ours. Not very ROBUST as you like to say daddio. Anyhow, were back up, and i eliminated some things that were eating resources. Between cloudflare and dedicated servers we should never go down, not even a little bit lol not for nearly $700 a month
 
One thing we may want to look into is pruning out the really old posts and moving them to a separate archive. The current database is quite large so if we can separate old posts out, that may help.
 
Again, i am sorry we experienced so much down time today. The issue is solved for the moment, but not fixed!

As I'm sure everyone has noticed our dedicated server keeps crashing so please bear with us as we are waiting on a new server

Meanwhile We will be moving to one of our other dedicated servers and then running on dual dedicated servers with load balancing fail over so if one is down or even busy the traffic will be routed to the 2nd server.

My apologies for all the downtime recently but our databases are huge with almost 20 years of data / content , so it was bound to happen
