A Stimulating Rep is a repetition in which maximum activation occurs with a slow contraction velocity. Follow the steps on the infographic for maximizing muscle activation – both heavy weights or light weights taken to failure can produce high amounts of activation. Movement velocity will also slow down due to either heavy weights or fatigue. Intentionally moving slow with a light weight will reduce activation and overall tension which is not optimal for growth!

Stimulation reps/sets are GREAT when we have lagging body parts. Some people do full out hardcore sessions 2-3 times a week on the same body part, not realizing most of us only need is just that 1 loading session, smash it hard and rest up for a few days and just "stimulate" activate those muscle rounds again.. Just to get some blood volume, this will keep motor unit recruitment along with some muscle belly fullness..
I do stimulation reps daily for shoulders, I pamper my cuff.. I do shoulder cable rotations from various angles, LIGHT weight high reps.. Stimulation is great for rehabilitation and to avoid injuries, or we can do them with a bit more intensity (just a little bit more) for full muscle head stimulation/activation..

Great topic man!
