The day is finally almost here. I have been getting ready for this for about two to three months now.

My first time competing in the highland games. So jacked right now abou this that it is pretty much all I can think about......That and pictures of naked chicks of course.
I got a list of the events off the website for the festival

Breamar stone(shot put from a stand)
Open stone (same as shot put)
56# for distance
28# for distance
hammer throw
caber toss
56# over bar, highest throw wins
Sheaf toss
Farmers Walk(kind of surprised me with that one I thought it was more of a strongman event)

It is the first of many games to come so for right now I am just gonig to have fun with it but still try like hell to win. From what my training partner told me I should do pretty good at the beginner level.

I will plan on posting some pictures next week and sorry but I won't be getting a kilt this year, they are jsut too damn expensive. But next year I will plan on having one for sure.

Good luck bro, but I'm telling you, every man of celtic descent needs a kilt!

Where is it being held?

Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I picked that one cause my bro lives there that way I can just crash at his house and save the sixty bucks that I would have spent on the hotel room.

I will be getting a kilt for next season, I wanted to get one this year but they are so damn expensive (350.00 for a nice one). I jsut didn't have the ching right now for it. Mos tof the games require the kilts to be worn or they won't let you compete so it really isn't an optional thing.

Here you go bro. I compete also. Here is were I bought a cheap one for my first few games. Good luck and throw far and high.

Hey Braveheart :D Let's have the results! Did you compete in everything or just one or two events?

BTW, I got my short kilt in Cape Breton, Canada....where the dollar is VERY strong right now, so that $350 only costed me about $200....

Thanks for the info guys I will be sure to look into them when I start shopping around for the kilt. I'm not doing anymore this year so I will just wait to get one til next spring.
