how do you use amps?? i dont know what to do with it, i dont want to break it and waste it all. please help.

Score it around the edge with a small jewelers file. Then take a rag and hold on the top and pop it off. It is not as hard as it sounds.

Sure.. there's always that one that cracks ... But it's not often if you score it right.. A triangular rat tail file will work also...

Just a heads up, the amp openner sucks. I rarely works. The file idea is the best. The most important thing is, whether you use a file, a pen cap, the openner, or just your fingers,,, to wrap a layer of tape around the base and the head so when you open it, none of the glass falls in if you break any off. The pen cap and your fingers are the cheapest and work as well as any. The file just makes sure you get the cleanest break.

I have opened many amps and never used anything but my fingers. I have never had a "glass fragment" problem or wasted anything. And I have never scored the amp. I just snap the top off. Some amps come with a little dot on them to indicate snapping it away from the dot.

And now that I have said this, I am sure the next one I open will explode or something.

i like amp openers---i have used the same one now for 100+ amps without a problem--knock on wood

I've never used a pen cap, opener or anything either...just snap the thing with my fingers. I've had glass get down in the oil, but it sinks, and is too big to get sucked up anyway. I've just never worried about it I guess and it's always worked out fine.
