Just for the record I got raised as a Catholic and still consider myself a catholic.

My question is, how would any religious person explain evolution and how it contradicts stuff preached in various religious books. I mean evolution is a fact so how would one go about explaining anything else?

Dunno the answer to this one, but I am interested on "your" opinions.

HOW DOES EVOLUTION CONTRADICT THE CATHOLIC RELIGION

I don't believe I specified which religion, I said religious books.

I'll be the first to admit my bible study classes weren't that productive, but I thought there was something in there that did, I'll see if I can dig it up.

So in Catholic belief God created the Big bang...or am I wrong...

BIG BANG IS ONLY A THEORY, HIGHLY DEBATED THEORY AT THAT.I'M NOT GETTING DEFENSIVE BRO, KEEPING THIS ALL INFORMATIVE AND INTRESTING.I NEVER PAYED ATTENTION TO BIBLE STUDY WHEN I WAS FORCED TO DO IT. IT'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WHEN YOU READ IT CAUSE YOU WANT TO.

Yeah bro thats what i was thinking of, the bible states earth was created in 7 days, and evolution contradicts that theory, being much longer.

I am not being defensive either bro, just looking for some debate and good ole convo.

Highly debated huh...I always thought it was considered a paradigm.

What are some people's thoughts?

THE EARTH BEING CREATED IN 7 DAYS STILL LEAVES ROOM FOR IT TO EVOLVE.IT DOESN'T STATE ANYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING REMAINING INTACT.I THINK YOU'RE THINKING OF SOME PEOPLES BELIEFE THAT WE ORIGINATED FROM APES.THIS IS CONTRADICTING TO THE BIBLE AND SO IS JUST ABOUT ANY OTHER SCIENTIFIC THEORY ON THE ORIGINS OF MAN.ALOT OF THINGS IN SCIENCE HAVE NEVER BEEN FULLY DISCREDITED NOR ENTIRELY PROVEN.ALOT OF WHAT WE LEARN(ED) IN SCHOOL IS OPINION.AND WE ARE MADE TO ACCEPT IT AS FACT.THATS THE BASIC DEFINITION OF A PARADIGM: A THEORY THAT IS ACCEPTED AS BEING TRUE WITHIN A CERTAIN GROUP.a philosophical and theoretical framework of a scientific school or discipline within which theories, laws, and generalizations and the experiments performed in support of them are formulated

If an individual believes in the God of the bible and that it is God's word
without error then there is no room for an evolutionary theory.
Man has not and will not evolve because we are created beings unlike
the technologies that man has been given the ability to create which
continue to evolve in leaps and bounds.

SO YOU BELIVE MAN WILL NOT EVOLVE. ANY THOUGHTS ON ANIMALS?

the word"evolve" is misleading-when a species changes over time how do you think that happens?-by accident?-dna and cell structures don't just spontaneously change-its God at work constantly "creating" and refining all life on the planet-mankind included-the real question is the "man evolved from apes" issue and as of yet there hasn't been any proof-digging up bones and making assumptions based on conjecture and inaccurate dating methods proves nothing.Lastly,as with any discussion of evolution there is always the question of "how"-if life started in some primordial ooze "how" is this possible?Until some scientist can say "this is how it happened "I'm believing God-Geez-look around-life is amazing-flowers,birds,fish-how everything "fits" together-I have a hard time believing that its all random

Genetics may get better but we didn't come from fucking monkeys

I actually think genetics in humans will continue to decline. As far as survival of the fittest goes, we really don't have that anymore. In the wild, only the smartest and most fit creatures survive to pass on their genes....take a look at humans now...shit, every fucking idiot has kids now making more fucking idiots than ever!

True, I do not believe man has or will evolve. As for animals I actually
believe the the same however scientifically I feel there are some cases
that have the appearance of evolving but are not. That will require
a lot more research for me to give a more intelligent answer. Thanks
for keeping me on my toes Daddy48.

Man is an animal, and is evolving as we speak.

Yes, and there are fossils that can be traced all the way back that show the evolution into man from ape.

Interesting. And at what point in this evolutionary process did we
become man and where is that scientific data.
