With that being said and it still being january, how much longer do you guys think i can still bulk until i should start cutting for the first show? I was thinking of bulking up until mid may and then slowly diet down for 8 weeks.

I am currently sitting at 262 and prolly 13-15% and still 6'2.5 lol

Depends on what weight class you are aiming for and how much you need to loose.

I will be competeing April 12, in the Emerald Cup (Biggest show on the West Coast)
Then in June The West Coast no date set yet.
Then there are 6 shows in 8 weeks I will be hitting end of September- Nov

Presser, You have dieted down before and would probably know better than anyone else if 8 weeks is enough time for you to hit it.

Do you have super heavy class? 235-240 at 5% would be awesome.

But I would say that if you are happy with your size now then start cutting earlier. The more shredded you are on stage you will look better than maybe adding a couple more pounds and not coming in shredded. I would rather hit the stage at 225 shredded instead of 240 and not quite there. I hope that makes sense.

You know your body best!

I will usually start my prep or my clients prep minium of 12 weeks out. With 12-16 weeks I can start things off slow and get them both mentally and physically ready for the show. Have had clients try in 8 weeks, they seem to loose more muscle then the longer prep time. With longer time there si more time to correct mistakes (ie cheating on the diet).

Prep is slow and easy at first, the first month is a cleaner diet with still a cheat day on saturday (for some) cardio is added if not done presently. At 8 weesk out is when the intensity turns way up, but by this time you have lost soem bodyfat and are metally ready to pore it on to a victory.

Good luck on your prep

is 8 weeks enough ? some people can get away with it. you know your own body better than anyone else. i would at least start cleaning you diet up between the 9th and 10th week.

i did my november show last year with 5 weeks diet, although i was sitting around 9-10% 5 weeks out, and i think i may have lost some muscle, i think 8 weeks is just right for me, just wanted to hear others ideas

go for 8 then. that's usually what i do. if your not high on the % side then you won't need any more time. as you know.

i agree

I agree here! Your body need time to adjust to the different caloric changes and all! 8 weeks is not enough unless your already 6-8% me im starting hardcore at 20 weeks out no holds barei will dominate or i will die!
