How far out do you start your comp diet? I'm guessing this would depend on what your body fat % is at the start (obviously someone at 8% could wait longer than someone at 15%), but is there a general rule that maybe takes that into consideration?

yeah 12 - 16 weeks depending on how much you need to lose. i find 16 weeks is a good time frame for most women. but 12 is usually sufficient for males.

16 min

this is theMIN!! Im starting to get in step so at 20 weeks im ready.. I also like to be ready a few weeks out also!

I was ready for my first show last year 3 weeks out and it drove me insane, i still think i peaked early even though i won, yeehaw

I'll probably shoot to start at 16 weeks out. This will be my first competition, and I won't be lean at the start - probably 15%. The leanest I've ever been is 10%, so this'll be a real challenge for me. I'm planning on competing regardless of how bad I look - if I'm at 15%, I'm still going to get on stage. That should help motivate me, huh? :D

you have plenty of time 16 weeks is a good time frame in my experience.i hqave competed and won 2 times in the last 5 years.open divsion.offseason BF 19% FATASS but come 16 weeks later lean 8% .diet sucks.i wish i could eat right year round but i get to burnt out!!SO GO FOR IT!!

probly were yours are presser? hahah. I on the other hand am dieting like a madman and hope to be able to post pics up in the summer.

Well, I have my pics posted, and they should show that you don't have to be cut to post! :D Either that, or I just have no sense of shame!

That's exactly the feeling I have. I'm getting ready for my first comp and started my prep on January 4, 13 weeks out.

This year I am going to clean up my food intake at about 16 weeks, i.e. dropping milk and adding the damn rice cakes and shit. I will still cheat about once or twice a week up until about 10 weeks out and then I start hitting it hard...good luck al you need any help w/a diet drop me a line.

is whole wheat bread ok to eat once in a while.some days i just have to throw 2 pieces of hamburger meat on bread.get tired of broccoli 5 days a week?just wanted some opinions!!!!!THANKS

my last show i dieted for 11 weeks total and it sucked. 2 a day cardio and carbs very minimal. my next show is june 28th and my diet started last week. so this time 20 weeks not including the last 7 days. IMO this will allow me to take it easier, less cardio, and will allow me to hold more of my hard earned muscle with even less fat. I would rather be ready sooner then trying to catch up at the end.

you might want to try 14 - 16 weeks. 20 weeks is too long for someone to stay on a strict diet. you will probably turn out stringy. or loose more muscle than you expected. 20 weeks is also hard to stay dedicated to. i think you should be able to do it in 14 - 16. remember thats 4 months!!!
