Diet considerations

When doing a cutting cycle, what should I lean towards when thinking about a diet. High Protein, low carbs, or just plain healthy food and watch calorie intake...

thanks fells, im planning for my first cutting cycle and trying to understand what its all about. Im used to doing big time bulking, and eating everything i can find so this may be a challenge

any info will be appreciated

thanks fellas

you should probably try different strategies. I do well with low carb diets...for a few weeks...then I crash hard! Different people are different bro. Remember that the formula for losing weight (that is WEIGHT, not necessarily FAT weight) is:

Calories in - Calories out

If you take in less than you burn, you lose weight. Simple. If you want to retain the muscle, then make sure you take in 1.5g/lb of body weight of protein and continue lifting hard and heavy. The low carb diet work well to expedite this, but some guys get so weak on it they can't handle it. I will say that if you do take in carbs while cutting, make them complex ones like veggies, sweet potatoes, etc. Kill ALL sugar and refined flour products. Good luck and keep us posted.

i agree with bwell! Ax all sugars! I diet down on low carbs75g a day and fat under 30g and protien around 1-1.5g per lb of weight

I also take an eca stack 3 times daily with lots of vitamin c

Dieting is where the men and the boyz are separated!

If you want to look better than just really good, it's mostly in controlling your diet in the cutting phase of your training. The mental aspect of this gets tougher as you get further into the diet. Most guys stop short of really getting shredded and just stick to "looking really good". Once you get truly shredded, then you'll know what truly only a handful of people know...

carbs

Well bbstrong put it pretty well! droping the sugars alone will make a drastic change! You may and to rotate your carbs also..
what i mean is take in 75 one day then 125 then 150 this will boost the metabolism when you stall on low carbs alone!

kick ass fellas, usually i just brouse aroud here like a freekin deer lookin for some good info... thanks fellas, its time to start puttin my two cents in and become part of the family

thanks bros!

while cutting is it cool to still to drink dextrose and protein drink after.just started thats the only sugar i have.is that cool.thanks for any help!!

email me if this doesn't look clear.

I've given this diet to several people and have trained several people locally and all that have not cheated have seen some great success. If you look at the calorie number it is higher then most cutting diets but not to worry protein does not readily convert to fat. Just about all-extra protein gets excreted. For my last natural show I started at 10.7% bf and was 206, by my competition date 4 months later (my third of the season) I was just under 5% bf and 203lbs before cutting my water. You do the math it is a significant lean body mass improvement. I think it was due me finally getting enough protein into my body to support the growth.

This diet will allow you to eat often so that you don't get hungry. The tough thing is that you have to eat the same or similar food over and over.

This is just a sample menu for you to follow. The flax seed oil you can pick up at any health food store. Flax seed is the good kind of fat, it is very high in essential fatty acids. If you want to substitute fish, canned tuna, or steak for any of the chicken meals, go nuts. Same thing if you don't like cream of rice like I don't. If you can keep pretty close to it the weight will come off. If you keep exactly to it you can expect to lose about .5% body fat per week or almost a pound a week. Probably more in the begining.

After three days of the low carb phase of this diet, you are entitled to a high carb day. Eat what you need on this day. I recommend... add an extra 1/3 a cup of oatmeal to your first meal add an extra cup of rice to your third meal an a couple of baked potatoes to your fourth meal

Other than that it is the same as the low days. If you need more food on the high day feel free to add a little more rice or a baked potato to your 5th meal.

Thanks mdwt,

I'm not a big fan of cream of rice. Just substitute for something you like better. Maybe one meal substitute a protein "drink" and the other either some tuna or chicken or something similar.

Hey man I hate cream of rice, but if you mix a vanilla flavored egg pro powder w/it and some flax seed oil it actually tastes like cake mix...I even got my girl to eat that!!
