Woman says President Bush can crucify her live on TV

A New Zealand woman says she wants George W Bush to crucify her live on television if he drops plans for a war on Iraq.

Mary Grierson emailed the US President offering to be crucified so Mr Bush could understand the kind of pain and suffering war with Iraq would cause.

"Send your troops home and take me instead, on behalf of everyone in the world who does not want war and oppression," she said.

She added it was too easy to press buttons and launch missiles at thousands of people and not see who they hit. If world leaders could see firsthand the suffering they inflicted, their convictions would be put to the test, she said.

Public opinion in New Zealand is strongly against war with Iraq. The government has said it would send only logistical and medical staff for a UN-sanctioned offensive aimed at disarming Iraq.

Grierson said she realised Bush was very unlikely to accept her offer, but said it was time to stand up and offer a personal sacrifice, reports Xtra news.

"I don't want to appear as some nutter who just wants to be crucified, who enjoys pain," Grierson said. "In fact I hate pain."

Grierson emailed her letter to the White House and also sent it as an open letter to leading US newspapers. She said she received an acknowledgment from the White House.

I would remind her that the people she is talking about stood amidst the ruin and decaying bodies in Sept. 01. I would remind her that it was us, the big bad satan that watched as over 3 thousand of our countrymen perished in a single day's attack. (myself, I think Sadam was involved at some level).

it's a fu(king joke how some people think these days. if our ancestors had these same "bleeding heart" hippy views we would have perished along with all the other weak animals thruout time. it's our nature to want to survive and to do so we free and fair people have to stamp out terrorism and other threats. my mc bros in the US, i'm australian and despite what you may have heard, the majority of us over here are supporting you 100%. our leader and Prime Minister john howard is a great man and is extremly supportive and loyal to president bush and your country.
