I just looked through last week's topic of the week - Insulin - as I'm probably going to end my last four weeks of my current cycle by adding insulin to the mix. I've read the dangers and am positive that I can choke down enough carbs to combat hypoglycemia, BUT, I work 3rd shift so my schedule is a little different than most. Most days I end up working out at 9 or 10 in the morning with workouts ending at around 11 to noon. I come home, eat at least 2 more meals and then hit the hay at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.
NOW, the literature said not to go to sleep for 4 to 6 hours after injecting insulin, so if I kept my current schedule (which allows me to sleep an ample amount), I will be going to bed within the danger zone for hypoglycemia.
Is there any way I could eat enough before bedtime to make sure I don't kick the bucket in my sleep?
Given my current schedule, should I hold off until a later date?
I'm certainly not all about dying, not now at least. So don't think that in my quest for bigness, I'm willing to gamble my life. I just want to know if there's any way I can safely adjust my meals, or load up on the carbs to ensure that I won't DIE in my sleep......

I personally wouldn't take the chance. You could try re-arranging your schedule so you sleep when you first get home, then work out before work.

then humalog is the only way to go for you. But you should try to stay up a little longer

humulin-r would be my first choice, since i've read that it's the most economical....it looks as if I'll have to rearrange my schedule somehow to accomodate the extra awake time.....thanks for the info, guys.
I guess I pretty much figured that I couldn't just eat a shitload before bedtime, but you also have to understand that I can put away enough food for two or three people, so I thought I just may have been the exception to the rule:D

That is something That I wouldn't suggest you chance..
The guy that I got the most iformative information about GH, always uses slin. He is very well versed in these to drugs among others. He himself has had times when he has almost dropped because of hypoglycemia. So if it can happen to him with all his knowledge, then I think that it could happen to you or me.

Thanks bass, That's a very good chart.

I took humalog and this is some things that I did. I downed my protein shake with a 1/4 cup of dextrose which is 50 grams of carbs. Got in car and injected. Make sure to also keep it cooled with an ice pack. Then I would eat a meal when I got home then just a snack before bed.

Be sure the hours after your shot are somewhat predictable...where YOU are in control of when and what you will eat. As an example, don't shoot in your car if there's any chance you may be stuck in your car and not able to get to that next meal in time bro!

A few weeks ago, something similiar happened to me...I got called into a meeting with some higher-ups and couldn't break free for close to 2 hrs! I got pretty panicked and had to excuse myself to raid the candy machine because I ended up going too long between my carb/protein shake and my next meal.

If you end your workot at 11 and go to bed at 4, you will be fine, providing that you took humalog. some peple would say that humalog is out of your system in 4 hrs, but I'd wait 5 just in case.
