Not to contradict you but.....

I am an credit(mortgage) underwriter and every creditor has to have you sign an authorization BEFORE any bureau is pulled. The issue you speak of above is ONLY for the purpose of obtaining information pertinant to a credit/business transaction. You can contact any of the 4 repositories and an "alert message" will be placed on your soc sec# preventing the above. your credit is actually MORE public now than it will be. The law is being enacted to help prevent identity theft.
