There are a few questions on my homework assingment that I cannot figure out and like usual, I wait till the last minute to do them. If you can help, PLEASE DO!

Here they are:

1.) Suppose that a saving account increases its value by 5.8% per year (APY). Use the approx. doubling time forumla to esitmate the doubling time of the account. Please explain why.

A.) 11-years
B.) 12-years
C.) 13-years
D.) 14-years

2.) The average price of a home in a certain town was $92,000 in 1990 but home prices have been falling by 6% per year. Create your own exponential function of the form Q = Qo(1 - r)t to model the situation, where t is the number of years since 1990 and Q is hte average home price.

A.) Q = 60(0.92)t
B.) Q = 92(0.06)t
C.) Q = 92(0.94)t
D.) Q = 92(1.06)t

3.) Suppose that you invest in $2,100 in an account that earns simple interest an APR of 4.3%. Determine the accumulated balance after three years.

A.) $270.90
B.) $2,370.90
C.) $2374.30
D.) $2382.72

4.) Which of the following is equal to (9.4 x 10[9th power]) x (2.5 x 10 [4th power)?

A. 2.35 x 10[13th power]
B. 2.35 x 10[14th power]
C. 2.35 x 10[15th power]
D. 2.35 x 10[36th power]

If you can help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

look at the answers we have... Q = avg cost... so the first Qo has to equal to the value of the home initially...

and since the value of the home is decreasing each year the number inside the () has to be less than 1...

now that leaves us with just B and C still available answers...

and looking at B 92 (0.06)... if u do that multiplication... it will equal to the amt of money lost from the home... NOT the amt of money the home is worth...

so there.. by elimination method.. the answer is C

# 4 is B this is because when u multiply numbers in scientific notation whay you do is first multiply the 9.4 times 2.5 and that gives u 23.5 then for the power of the 10 in scientific notation u simply add the 10 powers which is 9 plus 4... which gives us 13

and since 23.5 is not in scientific notation u have to move the decimal point once spot to the left so by doing that u must add 1 to the power of 10... which now gives u 14!!

so answer is
2.35 X 10^14

the other two problems there should be two separate formulas u should have in your notes... one for accumulating simple intrest and the other for doubling time formula... I'm not in your class so I don't have those notes on hand..

u'r going to have to look it up..

LOL, I have a final tomorrow that I'm working on studying right now.

Finals suck! I can't wait till this time next week. Either I'll be really happy (ie. I did well) or in a bad mood (ie. I did shitty).
