Can squats keep you from losing weight?

I am asking for my wife who has been trying to lose weight. Can squats hinder the losing weight process?
I was wondering the opinion of other females here.
How about staying away from all the heavy exercises like deadlifts, squats, chins, bent rows. leg presses , hacks ect. and instead doing cables and dumbells, leg extensions (ie easy stuff) ...which is easier on your metabolism.
She has been on the clen (3 cycles) and had not lost a pound and was wondering if these exercises are something you girls would do if you were 29yrs old  5'6 and 148lbs and wanted to be 125lbs .
Oh, ya she eats clean 5x day, Very low carbs. I told her to cut back on breakfast and not eat anything until lunch (which is how I lose the BF) and she does cardio 3x week @130 bpm for 30-50 min.
She has been stuck at this weight for over 1 year now and getting frustrated and we need some experienced female input.
Thanks

Well if she is trying to lose Bf then doing squats will not hurt her. Also larger muscles use more calories when a person is at rest so adding a little muscle can help to change base metabolism, therefore aiding in dropping Bf. Muscle is much heavier than fat, so if she does squats and adds say 2 lbs of muscle in her legs and loses 2 lbs of fat, her legs will not only be smaller but more shaply and athletic looking. In other words, yes she should do squats. Later

I would agree with Napalm here.  I think squats are one of the best ways to burn fat.  Not neccessarily piling on a ton of weight, but doing lots of reps.  It will strengthen, tone and add muscle while burning a lot of fat where women tend to carry it the most - in the legs and behind.  I have found that they can also help strengthen your lower abs.   At least that has been my experience.

Yea...what those two said...lol
But also, she should not cut back on breakfast, most important part of the day as far as I am concerned.  If shes not already, she should be eating small amounts 5-6 times a day instead of only 3 meals.  Also she could try to do one more day of cardio.  Tell her not to forget that muscle is heavier than fat so try not to get too discouraged, I know sometimes its hard.  Hope that helps some....Take care.

One thing that I would like to add is that she should do her weight training/cardio in the morning when she 1st gets up on an empty stomach. Your body is in a fasted state from sleep still. If you demand energy from it it will go straight to the fat cell for energy. Any food you eat prior to working out will have to be used up completely before burning your stored fat. I think squats are an excellent way to burn fat. They are a full body excercise that utilize almost all your muscles. She should definately stay with light weights and high reps. Multiple sets. Thats what I've got the mrs. doing and she hates me for it

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will be keeping you posted with my wifes progress and probably a few more questions in the future (!)
Thanks all
